Watching the re-air of Stevens speeches today and I have to say
Stevens can kiss my ass in Macy's window. He has whined about this bill for three days and doesn't know where to stop! But, when listening to his speeches again, I am further enraged with one thing that he kept saying. He kept talking about having canceled his trip home for Christmas. He keeps talking about how he has spent other years sitting in his Senate seat over the holidays/New years Eve. He keeps pointing out how "put out" he is that his holiday with his family has been put on hold.

Well, Ted, did it occur to you that you added this piece of shit idea to the very bill that secures the SALARY payments to the military? You know, the SALARY that those left at home most likely depend upon to keep body and soul together while their loved ones are fighting another war on oil in another land? Did it occur to you TED, that you are whining about sitting in a safe, secure, warm, dry building in Washington, eating what ever you want, doing what ever you want, with the freedom to come and go as you please ... yet you whine about not getting home in time for YOUR christmas. What about the soldiers that you kept talking about supporting Ted? You think THEY would like to be home with their families for the holidays, you moran? Do you hear them whining that they have to stay "in their seat" doing the work that they do over the holidays, asshat? So you had to rearrange you travel plans, did ya? Buck up. You will still be home for Christmas you slime ball. You will still HAVE a home for Christmas to go to. Unlike those that you claim you were trying to support with your piece of crap legislation of little consequence? There are plenty of citizens from the Gulf Coast that would like to have a home to go to for the holidays. Some of them, just like out troops, might have to spend their holidays in a tent, eating at a shelter, and explaining to their children and grandchildren why there are no presents, no tree, no place to call home at all.

So Ted, sit down and shut the fuck up. You are embarrassing those that are less fortunate than you at this moment with your whining and complaining and your fake concern for them. Go home and call it a day. You have nothing more to say that anyone wants to hear.

3. I think his age has got to his brain.
When my 7 year old son acted like that he was sent our of the room to think about his silly ways.

4. Sweet and well said. Think about those that are "serving our country"!
I only caught brief moments of him on the floor speaking, my only thought was what a pitiful wretch of a man. Stand him up next to Senator Byrd.

6. Note that he probably supports the new TORTURE BILL up this week:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5665289
thread title (12/22 GD): US BILL up this week would ALLOW TORTURE for evidence, long-term holding

It's the Graham-Levin amendment. Read the press release from Human Rights Watch in the 7th reply in the linked thread for the appalling details.

But ole Ted has his own priorities.

12. That's outrageous!
Levin said several times yesterday (or the day before, they all seem to be running together these days) that he had worked with McCain with the language for this and that it didn't affect what McCain was trying to do at all. What concerned me was, blivet** agreed to McCain's language but not before they rewrote the Army field manual. Just how did they change the definition in that? I don't know and I haven't heard anyone say that they knew either. McCain merely said no torture, but if you change the definition of what torture IS, then they could comply with no change in their behavior at all.

All of this is tied together and all is very important. I think we need to ask them to explain it, like we are five years old, so that we can be real clear on just what they are trying to do with all of these changes and calls for change too.

Thanks for the heads up NWH.

9. I would not be surprised if
he fell to the floor in a full blown temper tantrum complete with kicking and screaming! He must have been paid some serious money to lobby so vehemently for the oil companies. He acts like they are going to break his legs if he does not come through for them.

13. If we need more oil for our nation's security
Why not just pass a law that says all the oil pumped out of Alaska has to go to the U.S. instead of being sold for more money to Asian markets? As I recall, the oil companies did okay last quarter. Surely in the name of national security they're willing to accept profits slightly lower than $10 billion next quarter? We're all in this together, aren't we?
