Conservatives still hopping mad at American Girl dolls

(The dolls) were a huge hit in the Wiesner household....

Claire Wiesner says, "They are so much fun to play with and they seem so real." Her sister Elena adds, "And they're really pretty."

Renee Wiesner, Claire's mom tells CBS News correspondent Mika Brzezinski, "Everything that they sold to us seemed very consistent with our values."

That was until the Wiesners found out that the American Girl company donates money to an organization called Girls Incorporated, which offers support to underprivileged girls. Girls Inc. also endorses Roe v. Wade — the right to abortion and it promotes acceptance of homosexuality. It's an association that families like the Wiesners are protesting with their wallets.

"This year, we're not going to buy any of the products for Christmas," Wiesner says bluntly. (Note: ho ho ho!)

I happen to live in Oshkosh, WI, home of the only American Girl outlet store in America. I hope the fundies' heads explode. :)

that when government subjugation of women started to happen, which i am scared to say looks sooner than ever, then a large proportion of fundie women would react. But by that point, it would be far too late

These dolls might brighten up another child's Christmas... lots of families are having a hard time this year.

We shipped four boxes of toys and clothes to Katrina's orphans. Poor children. This world is way too harsh for their young innocent souls. Hey Bush FUCK YOU ASSHAT!

We were in Manhattan last weekend and I remember seeing an "American Girl Place" or something like that right in downtown. I had thought it was maybe a trendy woman's clothing store and figured that since it was chilly & windy that we shouldn't cross the street to go over there. Now I wish I had, as I'm sure my almost 3 year old daughter would have loved it.

The Christian fundamentalists are the greatest threat our nation has ever faced. They are determined to take away our freedom and they may be able to do it.
