20. Curiosity made me visit her
little one room Christmas shop last year while I was in Middleburg. She does look different-slimmer, short brown hair, new nose and who knows what else. She was doing paper work at the counter when we walked in, and she never looked up, never greeted us or asked if she could help us. She certainly didn't seem to care about making a sale.

55. Not really defending her, per se. Just wallowing in the spirit of the
season. Thought about this through the day. (By the way, this is aimed mostly at family members, not Linda Tripp.) When do we forgive and forget? Forgiveness gives ME the chance to move on. I can't live my life in hate. Sorry. I've marched to my own drummer all my life. Too late to change course now.

Y'know, the article may be a little too cutesy, but if a new marraige and brats floats her boat, more power to her. Just as long as she's shed the bitter old hag routine she played in the Clinton years.

But if she's still a lying, vindictive kneebiter, then who the hell cares?

19. I guess nobody here knows anything about Middleburg, Va, eh?
Edited on Thu Dec-22-05 12:25 PM by DancingBear
I live fairly close to it - it is one of the wealthiest communities in all of Virginia. When Sen. Warner was married to Elizabeth Taylor, they lived in Middleburg. Shelia Johnson (of BET fame) is building a spa/resort just outside of town, and I am sure it will be a magnet for the very wealthy.

Here's a quick anecdote: I had a friend who was a HVAC technician. He had been called to a very large estate in Middleburg, where they had 8(!) separate heating systems. Not zones, mind you, systems. As he was working on one, a woman came up to him and asked him (I kid you not) if he could make her a sandwich. Turns out this person was the owner of the home, all the staff had left, and she literally had NO idea where the kitchen was or what to do when if and when she found it. Long story short - she gave my friend $100, he ordered her a sandwich from the local deli for 15 bucks and kept the change. True story.

That is Middleburg in a nutshell. Trust me, much as I would like to see Linda falling on hard times, she is opening a "boutique" restaurant in Middleburg probably because she's bored.

49. Can't tar & feather the entire town ...
just like the town I live in ... we have to endure that boooshie's fat brother lives here but we still vote blue in a "supposedly" red state. Odd though, with the exception of Tampa/St. Pete, in 2004 every major city in FL spiked high blue and it was those little rural areas (with fewer legal eagles watching the polls) that "carried" the state to the enemy. I'm sure many of the people in Middleburg gag every time they have to see this woman.

Kind of like some food shop (probably sausages or hot dogs) in a New Jersey race track was rumored to have given people Mad Cow disease here (though as yet unproven).

If there were some place to get "Mad Cow" disease, I can't think of a more prophetic place to get it than from her stand though! :)

28. "split their time between Middleburg and Germany"
Life in Middleburg

how nice

... an ownership society lifestyle in Virginia Hunt Country ... Weihnachts Markt, "their 'magical' little house of treats" ... "It's kitty-cornered from Tripp and Rausch's year-round Christmas store, The Christmas Sleigh."

Well, isn't that special.

Isn't life grand.

"kitty-cornered" ... isn't that cute for someone whose actions attempted to bring down our government

"She gobbles down 'weisswurst'" ... indeed ...

what a sad state of affairs when the likes of Linda Tripp suffer for what she did to this country by being sentenced to 'Life in Middleburg' vs., say, prison as punishment ... yet, so typical of a country besieged with run-away corruption .... a country which allows elite felons back into positions of governmental power; allows crooks and traitors to steal elections, violate the Constitution/our Rights, abuse power, and carry-out an illegitimate governmental agenda (with judicial appointees to boot); and, steals us blind in both the private and public sectors ... just another slice of life in BFEEBu$hCoDickCheneyMr.Potter America ...

what's even sadder is the patronizing of her little business ventures: "They took last holiday season off, much to the chagrin of many loyal patrons, and reopened for a second season this year."

how delightful

Middleburg, Virginia ... Horse Events, Wineries, Foxhunting, Antiques ...

"They split their time between Middleburg and Germany, where they also have a home.

She's not even on a No-Fly list. It's a good day to be an American Traitor.

Cool avatar. I grew up in Virginia Beach and just spent about a year living in Leesburg, so I was down in Middleburg all the time. Everything you said about Middleburg is correct. It's where the Washington establishment goes for their weekend retreats, mostly diplomatic corp who have retired there, Harrimans, Mellons, etc. Kennedy rented several houses there and was building his own home when he was murdered. Johnson also used a home owned by Herman Brown of Brown & Root fame, called Huntlands. It's where the Texas 'Home Away From Home' crowd had their headquarters in the '50s and '60s. Sam Rayburn also frequented Hunlands, so the Browns had Johnson, Senate Majority leader and Rayburn, Speaker of the House at there private Hunt Country estate, god knows what they discussed there, probably planned the assassination of Kennedy. My former employer was leasing Huntlands from billionaire Roy Ash who was head of OMB (Office of Management and Budget) under Nixon. The privileged elite, they believe they deserve that life style. They are all nothing but crooks and murderers.

59. So much hatred in this thread toward her.
How much does clinging to your hatred hurt her? None. But your hatred does damage yourself. That has been proven in many clinical studies. She is no longer in politics, but is now a private citizen. It is time to let go of your hate and Move On.

67. I disagree.
Despising a public figure (and she is and will always be a public figure, regardless of how much time passes) takes no energy. I despise Tripp. I despise most of the Bush administration. I despise Terry Randall. I despise Tom DeLay.

That takes no energy...I don't interract with these people.

Hatred in interpersonal relationships IS different, and it is a wastefull emotion in that case. But to hate a public figure takes no energy.

70. Not really hatred ...
just acknowledgment of the evils she perpetrated on one of the finest presidents (and his family) of my life time. She was a large part of the cabal that couldn't --- though they tried for years --- find anything this man had ever done that was criminal. So, when their devil-dog-dig came up empty-handed, she became the instrumental weiner in the frame-up. As such she deserves to be remembered in a gallary of rogues and rats. But, I don't think of her AT ALL unless reminded ... she is less than gravel in the road to me. And certainly gravel has more integrity.

71. Nah.
She deserves it. I hope she chokes on those hotdogs.

72. I won't waist my time hating...but she is pure evil
just listen to her own taped calls with Luciana Goldberg as they plotted to destroy Monica's life (someone who completely trusted her) and Bill Clinton's presidency. They were genuinely delighting as they planned their destruction
