Miami Police Chief (Timoney)'s Son Pleads Guilty To Drug Charges

MIAMI -- The son of Miami Police Chief John Timoney could be sent to prison for up to 40 years.

Sean Timoney pleaded guilty to drug charges on Wednesday. He was arrested almost two months ago in Spring Valley, N.Y., for trying to buy 400 pounds of marijuana from an undercover agent.

The arrest report said Timoney, 25, and Jae Seu, 23, of Glenside, Pa., met in a Spring Valley hotel room with a DEA agent. After handing over the cash as a "partial payment," they left the hotel room to inspect the purchased marijuana and were arrested.

Timoney pleaded guilty in U.S. district court of conspiracy to possess and distribute a controlled substance.

Chief Timoney is one of South Florida's most prominent law enforcement officials. He rose through the ranks of the New York Police Department to become a chief and first deputy commissioner. He later became chief of police in Philadelphia before moving to Miami.
