XM question re: Mike Malloy: Does anyone know if he goes live in Jan?
I bought an XM radio for my mom for Christmas/Xmas/the Holidays (to replace the Sirius radio I bought previously---grrrrrrrrrrr) because there's no one in the world worth listening to except for Mike Malloy Mike Malloy Mike Malloy. I'm exaggerating, but not by much. So, like, all I'm getting now is Alan Colmes and don't get me started (and DON'T get her started--please). Anyways, is Colmes going to XM's Fox Talk Channel in Jan and is Malloy moving to his normal slot at that time?

P.S. Does anyone know if the FM modulator lets one listen to the XM signal on other radios throughout the house?

1. Yes, and no
Yep - Malloy's going to be on live starting in January, and no, the FM transmitters built into most personal radios won't transmit more than 5 or 10 feet or so.

2. I can help with part of your questions.

Yes, you can use the FM modulator on other radios in the house. There are several frequencies that the modulator uses--pick one that doesn't have anything broadcast on it, and it should pick up the signal. Check your manual for better instructions that this, obviously. Realize that some radios may not work because the antennas are not able to pick up the signal. I have a Sony boombox that has a lousy antenna, and I can't pick up the signal even when the XM unit is sitting right next to it. I actually use the modulator in the car instead of the cassette unit, and it works incredibly well. In the house, it goes right through the wall!

As for Mike Malloy, I can't find anything that says for sure when he'll be on in January. You might try checking back on the AAR page of xmradio.com closer to the first of the year for more information.

4. Thank you for the helpful info. I'll check the manual
and see if any of the radios she has will do the trick.
