NYC probes theft, sale of corpses' body parts
http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-parts24.html

NEW YORK -- Michael Bruno's life had been uncomplicated: He was an immigrant who worked hard, spoke his mind and succumbed to kidney cancer two years ago at 75.

''Typical Italian cabdriver,'' recalled his son Vito. ''He had an opinion about everything.''

It's only after death that his story became ghoulish.

Authorities think his body and those of hundreds of others -- including famed British broadcaster Alistair Cooke -- were secretly carved up in the back rooms of several funeral parlors citywide to remove human bone, skin and tendons without required permission from their families. Authorities allege the body parts were sold for a profit.

But the USA is not doing the same thing with the bodies of Iraqis we kill no matter what you read dammit!

1. This doesn't surprise me. The fact that it's been exposed makes me
rather happy because I've always had a sneaking hunch that this happened. And I've always thought that organs that came from very sick people, organs that couldn't or shouldn't be used, were being sold into a sort of black market for body parts on a scale hardly imagined. And I got this idea from a Law and Order episode (although not exactly like this scenario) that I saw a couple of years back. I mean, transplants are getting common, and they have to get product from somewhere.
