Poll question: Which issue will best motivate our base, and ensure victory in 2006?
What should we lead our campaign with.

1. I'll tell you what the campaign will be about...

...pushed from the Republican side: illegal immigration.

And if the Dems don't do some serious focus groups and polling and actually bother to formulate a message that appeals to the public, the Repugs will be able to remain in the running despite all their legal troubles.

4. Good point.
I have some right wing friends who are literally obsessed with illegal immigration and the best i can do is to say that the way we stop illegal immigration is to crack down on the people who exloit them....corporate employeers. You give a corporate death sentance to a couple midsize firms that exploit illegal labour and the practice will end and people will not risk death to come to USA for jobs.

Like almost all of our problems in this country it comes back to Corporations.

2. Link the damned Republican Party
to Reverend Moon. . .over and over and over and over again.

No American citizen in their right mind would vote for a party financed by the Moonies.

3. That's what turned my fundie in-laws.
I've been trying everything for years, and finally the Salon article about Bush-Moon ties did it. They really didn't know much about Moon, but after they read up (especially about the "coronation" from last year), they are now convinced he is the Antichrist. Apparently Rev. Moon is following the Armegeddon script pretty closely, as the fundies understand it.

i think dems should focus on increasing secondary education funding. it would set us apart from the repubs and it may not appear reactionary to something that the repubs have screwed up in the last six years. kinda like dems leading the way etc.

edit - ugh this is for 06', not '08. i'll leave my comment regardless.

10. I think their response to that would be...

...of course Dems want to increase funding to those "liberal elitists."

11. bring 'em on
nowadays it seems like middle america has no problems recognizing hardline crap when they see it. i hope the trend continues past '08.

in terms of this thread, and in motivating the dem. base to vote, i voted for impeach bush - this seems to me a bit more extreme than undoing the culture of corruption.
