How disgusting to ever give those lying, disgusting, racists, hate-mongers well wishes!

I'm sorry Charlie Brown. But not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

Not until they wake up and get a dose of reality and realize what HATE-FILLED lives they live. Until then, to hell with the phony bastards.

9. Not even for a day?
Why not? Is it because it means, if for a day, then possibly two, and if for two days, then possibly four?

On this day, I declare truce. One week from now, I declare celebration.

A single day will not kill any of us. Two might bring us a little closer.

In what ways are we here and they there similar?

That, to me, is what this day concerns the most.

33. I agree.
I've lost one friend, and have many others in harm's way b/c of those sick demented pukes.

My friend will never celebrate another christmas, his family will never ring in the new year with him again, his daughter won't hear him read "Twas the night before christmas." And he is only ONE of the THOUSANDS of people who are dead b/c of them.

These holidays and times of celebration with family just serve to remind me, there is no truce EVER.

To the day I die, every day, I will hate the people who are responsible for this national nightmare:

The election theft in 2000

9/11 - MIHOP

The Bullshit War in Iraq

Katrina

The erosion of liberties/shredding of the constitution

I am not a christian, therefore, for what they have done to this country, it's people and to the people of the world, I will NEVER forgive them.

55. If they were traditional American Conservatives I'd have no problem
But neocon fucks and their sheep like rhetoric spitting flag wearing followers don't deserve anything more than the paranoia and fear that they sow...

Now traditional fiscal Conservatives and constitution-following Liberitarians...they can have the happiest holiday of their picking! The same goes for anyone who can have a civilized disagreement without calling someone else a 'traitor' or 'un-patriotic' worldwide.

On this occasion, please take a moment to think about the many who will not be celebrating this year.

Think about that young guy who just came home from Iraq to a beautiful, new-born daughter.

Think about how that young guy will never be able to hug or see his daughter because he is now blind and is no longer able to move his arms or legs.

On this occasion, take a moment to think about what you've done, in real terms.

Merry Christmas Freepers.

26. Sorry, not me. The things that make them "merry" are just too repugnant.
These are people who laugh and cheer for death and destruction...

People who get a warm feeling inside every time
they hear about the subjugation and dehumanization of other people...

People who have 'merry' thoughts about:
bombs dropping on Arab children,
gay men being beaten to death,
women being beaten in general,
and black men being dragged behind pickup trucks.

These are but a few of the hateful, mindfucked, anti-Christian things
which make hardcore Freepers feel "merry".

And I will NOT NOW, nor EVER, wish for any of those things.

I will instead wish for "Peace on Earth, and goodwill toward men",
a wish which stands in diametric opposition
to everything that makes the average Freeper feel "merry".

34. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for us all...!
....of all 'political stripes'.... seems like we're tigers and cheetah's - y'ah know stripes and spots, but really and truly we're much more alike that we are more different.

We're americans (note, I did NOT init cap that!).

Most of us just want to be left alone, left to enjoy our freedoms that the whole rest of the world hate us for (according to Shrub).

Really - my immediate circle of friends think dumya is such an ass they won't even talk about him - most are active or retired military, so they have to be careful. But they don't disagree when I call dumya an f'ing idjit.

This too, shall pass....eventually.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year - (well, have a good time off, whatever you celebrate....)

37. Christmas, 1914 - Ypres, Belgium...
Edited on Sun Dec-25-05 05:20 AM by Cooley Hurd
From Wikipedia:

The "Christmas truce" began on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1914, during World War I, when German troops began decorating the area around their trenches in the region of Ypres, Belgium, for Christmas. They began by placing candles on trees, then continued the celebration by singing Christmas carols. The British troops in the trenches across from them responded by singing English carols.

The two sides continued by shouting Christmas greetings to each other. Soon thereafter, there were calls for visits across the "No Man's Land", where small gifts were exchanged — whiskey, cigars, and the like. The artillery in the region fell silent that night. The truce also allowed a breathing spell where recently-fallen soldiers could be brought back behind their lines by burial parties. Proper burials took place as soldiers from both sides mourned the dead together and paid their respect. At one funeral in No Man's Land, soldiers from both sides gathered and read a passage from the 23rd Psalm:

"The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures. He leaveth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his namesake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil."
The truce spread to other areas of the lines, and there are many stories — some perhaps apocryphal — of football matches between the opposing forces. Letters home confirm the score of one of these games to be 3–2 in favor of Germany.

In many sectors, the truce lasted through Christmas night, but in some areas, it continued until New Year's Day.

The truce occurred in spite of opposition at higher levels of the military. Earlier in the autumn, a call by Pope Benedict XV for an official truce between the warring governments had been ignored.

British commanders Sir John French and Sir Horace Smith-Dorrien vowed that no such truce would be allowed again. In all of the following years of the war, artillery bombardments were ordered on Christmas Eve to ensure that there were no further lulls in the combat. Troops were also rotated through various sectors of the front to prevent them from becoming overly familiar with the enemy. Despite those measures, there were a few friendly encounters between enemy soldiers, but on a much smaller scale than the previous year.

During Easter 1916 a similar truce also existed on the Eastern Front.
</snip>

In this spirit, I would like to wish members of FreeRepublic a Merry Christmas. I lay down my rifle on this day...

50. Delusions removed?
Truth win out?

You want the truth revealed, uncovered? For the veil to be removed?

I laugh gently at the idea, the right wing unknowingly ask for the same thing.

Apocalypse for Christmas? (From Greek apokalypsis "revelation, Apocalypse" from apokalyptein "to uncover, reveal"
Uncovering of Truth.)

The only world it ends is what is based on lies. Christmas is a good day to reflect on the world of truth manifesting.

Another thing I liked about your post is "May all the delusions be removed" to the tune of "Should auld acquaintance be forgot"

Wow, and thank you very much for the meaning of Apocalypse. I have another thread around here in which I state that I think the Armageddon which the "corporate christians" fear is not in fact the end of the world, but the end of the world as we know it. The meaning of Apocalypse ties in nicely with my little theory.

*singing* "May all delusions be removed, and ever brought to mind. May all delusions be removed, and all have peace of mind."

68. Someone on that thread posted just what I was thinking

To: shooster
If the Brits and Germans could have a truce during World War I? Why not?

Why not, indeed? Merry Christmas.

Do they even celebrate Christmas?

Or do they just run around naked in the snow and make grunting noises to the earth mother?

67. And I think if we and the FReepers could get together as Americans
and see how much we have in common, we could respect and even learn to like . . . NAH! YOU SUCK FREEPERS. YOU'RE WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY AND THE WORLD.

And happy holidays.

70. Never forget
who decides which wedge issue to use.
Political advisers who, in a fascist state, are also ecomical advisers. The needs of the economy (powerful elites behind large corporations) are best served if the masses are divided, so they would not rise up.

Much of the divide between you & them

has been manufactured by the likes of Karl Rove.

Peace to all.

72. Merry Christmas!
I'll even restrain from Happy Holidays. I know how that gets Freepers.

No, all joking aside, have a great one -- enjoy it with your families -- and we'll see you back on the political battlefield tomorrow.
