Huge "God Bless America" billboard vandalized again (CA)
Here's what it looked like when I drove by about 3:30 this afternoon on my way home from work. The billboard is just south of Petaluma, CA, on the 101 Freeway northbound. I doubt it will remain like this very long.

Below is a pic of the billboard after a midnight editing that happened some time ago. It was also torched a couple of years ago, but quickly extinquished and repaired.

I'm not approving of this kind of thing......just reporting.

2. I approve!
:D

Also, I think use of the word "vandalized" is inaccurate and inappropriate here, since it looks as though the billboards were covered rather than actually defaced.

3. I hear ya'...
I thought about weather or not to use the word "vandalized", and decided I would, just to see what kind of reaction I got.

Please note that I'm also not disapproving, just reporting.}(

29. The highway bloggers (lower-case) didn't cover in white, did they?
It looks like the owners are getting ready for a whole new sign. Hopefully beer or something.

9. Me too
Although I would not approve if it was set on fire. Covering rather than destroying is a better way to go.

17. I only approve if the billboard wasn't truly damaged.
Then it's fine by me.

By the way, I hope the Flying Spaghetti Monster forgives America, too!

That I don't agree with. I still believe in this guy's first amendment rights.

8. The billboard belongs to the landowner where the billboard is erected.
but it's just off highway 101 - and you can only see it heading north.

It's actually a few miles south of town... but in the territory of Petaluma..

42. Why thank you!
a progressive is someone passionately concerned about all the basic issues shared by most rank and file dems.

from matters of war and peace, to universal health care, education, labor issues and so forth. Essentially progressives believe that good policies are about nurturing family, community and the environment. Developing policy with socio-economic justice and equality in mind.

Check out the progressive democrats of american website (pda): http://www.pdamerica.org/ this should be fairly helpful, and you can locate a local chapter if that should interest you.. ;)

PDA was the first org. to endorse Howard Dean as DNC chair, because we see ourselves as advancing the progressive wing of the Democratic party, and no we are not fond of the policies of many members of the DLC to date.. (per se). One could say that the PDA and DLC do not meet "eye to eye" on a lot of things, most especially on the matter of the War in Iraq. That issue by far and above all others has kept us pretty divided. But there are other problems too.

The term "Radical" is subjective to how one defines that. the Freepers think that Hillary Clinton is a radical leftist. Well, that's pretty absurd as anyone here can attest. Speaking for myself, I think that the Clintons' with the DLC have taken this party too far to the right and that it needs to get back to it's basic core values and principles. And that is actually the meaning of Radical.

(Radical essentially means "getting at the Root", or "Root".)

I embrace the term Radical in it's true nomenclature, but unfortunately too many people in the Corporate Media and elsewhere have distorted it's meaning beyond recogonition, much in the same way as what was done with the term "Liberal", largely used to demean and smear one's political opponent.

Happy Holidays!

:toast:

The ones that are always interjecting God into anything political, as in, "God bless America", are the same ones that adore the death penalty being used and tell you that if innocents die, oh well, that's life, the same ones that vote for politicians who want our tax money to end up in Cheney's pockets rather than helping homeless vets, and the same ones want abortion banned but don't give a rat's ass about homeless children.

Their billboard is evil, it's a lie, and it's therefore foul.

47. Another Sonoma Co Resident (Cotati, CA)
It wasn't me, really, I have been in Vietnam since the 12th. That sign might now even be in Petaluma now, or soon, as they annex property south of the river for more sprawl development.
Besides the Polly Klass tragedy, Petaluma is best known for being where the actress Winona Ryder lived as a child. Historically Petaluma was the home of the wrist wrestling championships, and before that, for the beginnings of the early stages of the poultry industry with the invention of the egg incubator and hatcher (my grandparents had a hatchery biz on what is now my farm).
A lovely area, the desirability of which is reflected in the outrageous cost, many hundreds of thousand dollars for even the smallest, meanest rural property.
Our rep in congress is Lynn Woolsey, we are truly blessed as she is among the most progressive Dems there.
Happy Holidaze

53. It was not vandalized: The sheet with "forgive" can be easily removed
and the underlying billboard has suffered no damage.

As to the upgrade I wholeheartedly approve of the sentiment, though I don't believe in God.
