Pope Benny's Christmas Eve Homily was not too bad. It made sense to me...
because he talked about the birth of Christ as a light come to shine in/within the hearts of men
to teach a way out of the darkness and violence (of the times back then but it seems throughout the ages--and bush thinks that HE, BUSH, is going to rid the world of evil.... Pope Benny talked about the light of Christ as one which speaks to the hearts of men whose hearts are open to receive it--but, he said, there are hearts that are so closed off to it that it is impossible for the light to enter them...i thought of bush. pope benny said that God/Christ does not distinguish between one group of men, or another. and he used the shepperds in the story of the birth of Christ to symbolize mankind in general (every individual being who hopes and searches for light and love). He used Mary, Joseph, Isaiah, etc. to symbolize God's love for individuals. he said that light without love, and love without light ... well, they just sort don't work the way they ought...

i thought he spoke a homily that made sense and in this heart of mine so closed to Christmas and Joy before listening to it, something happened, to remind me, really, what this Christmas Eve and tomorrow Christmas day is supposed to be about.

(i have used my own words to relate Pope Benny's homily as his words spoke to my heart and as my memory remembers...should you find a transcript of his homily and read his exact words you may find that i may have changed something or other...for that i apologize. i am just working out of my memory and out of my understanding of his words).

pope benny might do well to listen to his own words some times--but for tonight they brought a balm to my own heart and for that, i am thankful.

PEACE!

1. if it isn't what he said, it's pretty good on it's own - either way
thank you for the inspiration.

Merry Christmas
