Great LTTE from a Republican
Page 87 of the bipartisan 9/11 commission report, under the subtitle The National Security Agency, states:

“The law required the NSA to not deliberately collect data on U.S. citizens or on persons in the United States without a warrant based on foreign intelligence requirements.”

There is no ambiguity in this statement or in the law.

George W. Bush is the chief executive officer of the United States, sworn to abide by and enforce all laws. He does not have the authority to pick and choose.

I have never voted anything but Republican my entire adult life. This president confessed to his crime. He has unquestionably broken the law.

This Republican president must be impeached by his Republican Congress if we are to remain a country governed by law.
His self-admitted acts are a far worse abuse of power than President Richard Nixon’s cover-up of the Watergate break-in or President Bill Clinton’s lying under oath about sex.

9/11 cannot remain the president’s excuse for everything evil.

Bernard F. Kennetz Jr.
Nixa, Mo.

his country? It has got to be Christmas or something! On edit, NOT SO FAST. I googled this guy, who is an M.D. and a fairly prolific LTE writer. I am too tired and it is too late for me to read all he has written, but I would certainly withhold nominating him for sainthood until morning.

21. Of course I won't
He's a Republican.
But it sounds like he wants to save his party
from criminal oblivion, and I would do the same thing in his place.

No matter what else he's written, this LTTE
is doubly effective coming from a MO republican.

Your "team" is all well and good - until they break the law...

The sentiment is what counts - other Republicans will read that letter and THINK. Wrapping gifts as we speak :D

14. You are making two assumptions that are unwarranted. The
first being that Republicans read, the second that they think. Nonetheless, this is an excellent letter. Were you literally using voice-to-text last night?

When I have a little more coffee I will continue to check this guy out. I guess my point is that someone can be right about one thing but wrong about alien abductions or whatever and lose the credibility they might otherwise have.

19. Hehe - well, if they don't read, this guy's relevation is meaningless
They obviously read - thinking is something I'm still wondering about. I almost changed it to "as I type" but I liked the way it sounded. I didn't see the "two" typo until this morning.

his sentiments in this ONE letter. That's enough for me.

6. I love it when freepers awaken to the light.......
This guy may be like the canary in the coal mine. His attitude may be what more and more straight-up republicans are beginning to sense. Their basis for feeling morally superior has been destroyed by the chimp's actions and record. They can't honestly hide that fact anymore.

I have to admit I can demonize republicans very easily. But I have to hope their allegiance to this country is more than just lip service. The personal greed that drives most republicans has to stop somewhere.

personal greed on their part, but blind allegiance. That makes it even more scary.

11. These are the Republicans I can actually have some respect for
We will not agree on many things, but the Country comes before the party. They need to take their party back badly, the blind loyalty that most Republicans show is just plain scary it really is!

I feel encouraged when I read something like this, it reinforces my belief that there is still hope left.

Not these fear-mongering, hate-mongering, war-mongering, misogynist, racist, "let-me-shove-my-religion-down-your-throat" neocons who seem to have hijacked the GOP.

16. Just so you know, unless there are two people with the same
name in Missouri, this man has his own website called "Real Voices of the Ozarks" http://www.ozarksvoices.com/index.html

Interesting reading unless you might have something better to do on December 25th. He appears to be anti-abortion ("killing babies"), anti-affirmative action, anti-Iraq War and said the Clinton Administration was "eight long years" of "depravity."

None of this detracts from the cogent arguments expressed within the four corners of this LTE.
