Miller Lite commercial tonight - Christmas wars? Toast to our side/reason?

As the nfl game on fox was wrapping up, a miller lite commercial came on. I didn't catch it all but most of it.

There was a modest house at night, snow covered ground, illuminated by different sets of lights on the house and lawn. The house was outlined, there was a series of green lights strecthing from the roof to the edge of the lawn, a tree with its own flashing lights, a big "HAPPY HOLIDAYS" front and center of the screen, just below the roof, and a giant peace symbol taking up one side of the house.

There was a really catchy, rocking but appropriate, instrumental going throughout the whole thing - no words spoken, just the cool music, and all the elements of the lights flashing in concert to the music. "HAPPY HOLIDAYS" would flash one letter at a time, frontward and backward, and then flash as a whole on and off - this was the most prominent visual aspect, with a giant peace symbol flasing on and off very nearby.

And it was really a light show, very cool light show. The whole commmercial. If you were hung up on the supposed "christmas wars" and thought saying "Merry Christmas" was in danger, you wouldn't have been able to watch the whole thing, I think.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but did miller lite just give a toast to the left? They could have done the same thing without the "Happy Holidays" and the giant peace symbol. Just thought it was noteworty.

Did anybody else see this commercial?

1. Yeah I have.
It was a sweet ass light show. I recall mentioning that it would be awesome if someone had their lights set up like that. I was stoned at the time :p

2. Yes ... Carson Williams

The featured light displayed was on a real home, owned by a guy named Carson Williams. He was sorta forced to remove it because when word and a video of the display got out on the Internet, traffic near his home became dangerously clogged.

It was totally cool.

And I think you're reading too much into it, btw.

Here's one of the many stories about the display:

5. Well I am willing to let the other side have this video
if it becomes part of the war on Christmas.

It would actually be a great torture device. Make them watch it over and over and over and over and they will divulge all their secrets if we just promise to turn it off. LOL

3. This is that video that has been posted here about a brazillion times
It's a guy in Ohio. His house. He had to turn it off because of the traffic. Then Busch paid him to use the video in their ads.

I have received the link to this video in email at least 10 times in the last few weeks.

Here: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/45390/wizards_of_winter/

watch it about a thousand times and then you'll see where some of us are with this video :)

8. The song is featured on the newest Christmas CD from
Trans Siberian Orchestra--great CD. My son showed me the whole thing on the internet weeks ago. We figure the guy made a fortune selling it to the Beer people.

10. I hope he did. I hope the Trans-Siberian Orchestra got big bucks
too. I hope they do another one next year and I hope that asshole Bush doesn't get us all killed or imprisoned by next Christmas.

9. I didn't see this but it sounds cool!
I've been hearing companies and people saying Happy Holidays for many, many years! And if the right had not made this into a war, no one would even notice if people said Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas.

And it only became a war when these narrow minded people chose to become offended by it.

My point is.........there are things in the world that we may not be happy about but that doesn't mean that people are intentionally trying to insult us. Rational people know that there are some things worth going to war about and some things that you don't go to war over. This was one thing that did not deserve a 'war'.
