Poll question: Are America's enemies happier or unhappier since 9/11?
We know that lots of ME Muslims cheered the terrorist acts of 9/11. What do you think? How are things now?

1. Ask them and find out.
I wouldn't.

But as we saw from the tussle against Russia and its aftermath (Russia went bye-bye thanks to depleted resources, whoops), I wouldn't be surprised if Osama and his ilk are happy. America is in shit shape and they are the whale tapdancing then takin' a big leak on the face of Cap'n Ahab*, and lovin' it.

Just in case: I am not in support of the USSR as it had been. Fascism, big brother, and all that... I am saying there are parallels between the tactics Osama and his ilk used to destroy one nation long ago, and ours. Why change what work$?

2. Bin Laden said in his last video
that Bush is achieiving Al-Qaeda's goals by destroying the American economy.

However, I'm not sure I agree with your line that "lots of ME muslims cheered the terrorist attacks of 9/11":

As far as I remember there was a clip on CNN of half a dozen Palestinians cheering wich was played over and over. From what I've read since it seems that may have been a set up.

3. I think that initially our enemies
were "respectful" of the fact that we retaliated for 911, but since then they are thrilled that it has cost so much money and that we are stuck there.

I do think that Iran and Syria, however, might think Bush is unpredictable and that is concerning.

4. Yes, the attack on Afghanistan seemed to be justified
and I think that gave al-Qaeda pause for thought. But the invasion of Iraq reversed all the goodwill of America's allies and gave al-Qaeda a massive recruitment drive.

6. Osama made something like $500 million a year on the
Afghan opium trade until Taliban shut it down. Now the opium business
is booming again.

As to the USA bankrupting itself on the war--I'm sure Osama figures
"Hey, it worked for the USSR; why won't it work for the USA too?"

5. Bush has taken what Pres Clinton called "the one indispensable nation",
and exposed it to attacks by our enemies, isolated us from our allies, withdrawn us from established international agreements, and turned the Guiding Light of democracy around the world into a third world banana republic.

I think the world will find out just how dispensable America is - and we'll never be able to regain that respect.

8. His Actions Since 9/11 have made our enemies smile
And not just terror organizations.

Our standing in the world amongst our "friends" has gone down, and those countries that we've identified as enemies are just looking at * and our country and wondering WTF is wrong with us.

I think * has greatly weakened our country's defenses.

We haven't had a terror attack on our soil since 9/11, but then we hadn't had one for years before * stole the election of 2000.

(other than domestic terrorism)
