My contractor's 22-year-old son is in Iraq
Found out today. This guy (as solid a human being as you will meet) has been doing work in my kitchen for the past couple of months and we had a little "Christmas and the family" chat this afternoon. He saw my eyes widen a little bit when he told me about his son, who is on his second tour of duty now, and who has two children himself, one of whom is three months old. Of course, I said absolutely nothing about my feelings on this war. I spend so much of my time criticizing it with like-minded people that it has almost become an abstract exercise. When you're looking a scared father in the face, it's quite another matter. I'm sure many of you have had the same kind of experience.

I didn't think this was possible, but I hate this war this evening even more than I did this morning.

to protect, defend and REPRESENT Americans is allowing in the name of war and disaster profiteering.

I am very sad to hear this BG. So much sad news these days. I thank you for sharing your feelings about your unexpected and significant connection with the Iraq War tonight. It does touch us when we know someone directly or indirectly who is being affected.

May more Americans wake up to see how everything is connected and how it will affect all of us in the long run.
