remember about two years ago mentioning the "I" word would get you stoned and chastised around here? at least now we can discuss the possibility that bush has indeed committed impeachable offenses. even this small change in the political landscape gives me some small hope for the hypnotized.

1. No I don't remember that, mo, but I've only been coming into the
discussion boards for a little over a year.

Yes, it is nice to hear the 'I' word.

2. We need more than words on this
This much go much further than simply a mention of Impeachment. If nothing else it must be kept in the minds of all Americans until after 2006 elections. Then, when the Democrats are in control of Congress, we can drive an Impeachment campaign to get the SOB and his regime out of power.

3. It's being mentioned
in the corporate media, too. The scandals are not going away. They are building up ..... a gathering storm.

5. It reminds me of Watergate..
Think about Christmas, 1973, I remember my family members finally understanding that "no one is above the law". Two months after the "Saturday Night Massacre."

Drip, drip, drip..

The American people might be slow, but eventually they do "get it".

But then again, I was surrounded in 1973-1974 by family members that survived the Depression and World War II. They knew what sacrifice was all about and they were taught in school about American history.

My great aunts, great uncles, my grandmother, my father and mother all understood that America wasn't about talking points.

They knew the Constitution is the law of the land.

The first ten amendments make our country what it is...

7. Good points.
I think that the people from the Great Depression era, and perhaps even more so those before them, were less likely to accept anything and everything that came out of the White House as honest and truthful.

6. Don't dispair now, we're approaching the mountain top
Our enthusiasm CAN make a difference.

Congress is going to come back to a promised Senate investigation and the House is going to have to deal with Conyers' resolutions.

The slope may be still steep but the summit is in sight.

8. Don't mean to sound trite, but from your lips to God's ear.
"A promised Senate investigation, John Conyers resolutions..."

At least in 1974 the Dems were the majority party and they built a case against Nixon that would have convicted him of "high crimes and misdeamnors"

It wasn't only the Democrats in 1974 that had Milhous in the crosshairs, the Republican Party understood (remember Howard Baker from Tennessee) and knew he violated the Constitution.

But back then, the Republican Party actually had some members that remembered and understood the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case anymore.

And how sad it that for our beloved country....

10. It has little to do with mystic belief, our enthusiasm can make

a difference. There are plenty of law and order republican legislators who are uncomfortable with what Bush has done.

When 87% of 160,000 respondents to an MSNBC poll say the president should be investigated for impeachable offenses there almost must be republicans, libertarians, and independents in that group.

Sure a republican House is in place, and partisanship might rule the day, but an investigation that reveals egregious wrong doing by the pResident, might just be convincing. Granted in the two impeachments in my lifetime, the opposing party was in control, but during the Congressional investigation into Watergate prominent republicans turned against him, too.

I'll grant you the path to impeachment is steep. Congress for sure will not climb it without our enthusiastic insistence.

9. We need to hear it more...
If Americans hear impeachment on a regular basis, they will start to assume that there is a reason for Bush to actually be impeached.
