3. I got an XM radio a short time back.
It was solely to get Air America, since getting it on the internet was getting to be too much of a pain in the ass. I just checked, and saw that I could get the above on CSPAN. GREAT!! For the record, I haven't watched TV since 1998, and have no intention of starting up again.

One vet managed to make a reference to Cheney's multiple draft-exemptions. LOL!

4. As a retired
psychiatric social worker who provided services to numerous veterans over the years, I can say that few bureaucracies were as frustrating to deal with as the VA. The only way to navigate that system that allowed for adequate, on-time assistance was to locate a few reliable workers who I could call directly and say, "You will not believe the fucking road blocks to getting this person the help they need." Of course, the person on the other end of the line could believe it, because he had dealt with the exact same crap for more years than I. Probably about 75% of the time, services were good. But those other times really stood out.

5. The VA system is BROKE! It's heartwrenching for VN vets,
it will be excruciating for Iraqi/Afghanistan vets.
Why don't the mind trusts repair the broken system
before starting wars?:grr:

6. The VA's been broken for a long time.
It was broken in the late 1960's and the early 1970'2 for our men that were wounded and maimed in Vietnam and it probably was the same way for the Korean Vets.

Never forget these men didn't fight in a declared war...

8. It Didn't Work For Shit for WWI or WWII Vets, Either
My grandfather (Rainbow Patrol, WWI) just had one wish when he was dying: anywhere but the VA. My uncle, who was a bomber navigator at age 17 during WWII, got nothing from the VA. I have been against every war fought in my lifetime, but I will always, always be for giving vets - even the most gung-ho let's-kill-em-all vet - the best possible lifetime treatment. It's the very least they are owed.

9. True.
My family members from WW1 and WW2 did not always get quality services. Some did, others did not.

10. I Think the MO VA Is Especially Bad
Or maybe they were especially unlucky.

These two men, who both volunteered, were my first teachers about why war is wrong. Later in life, my uncle who in many ways was a wacky conservative, wrote a letter to the editor about Gulf War 1 saying that if anybody thought killing was fun or easy, go shoot your dog and see for yourself.

7. Caller- report rip offs
May as well go yell down an empty well. I know three people living like kings on 100% disability to which they aren't entitled. They didn't even serve in wartime! They are total con artists, and I've reported them many times. No one gives a flying rat's butt. There is no review once they're on it.
