Democrats have a secret plan to get us out of Iraq...
Just as Nixon had a plan to get us out of Viet Nam. Of course, Nixon had the political savvy to use it in his campaign. The Democrats have not sunk to that level yet, but they could. :) One of the candidates could announce tomorrow that he has a secret plan to get us out of Iraq and save our honor and prestige at the same time. Of course, he can't tell you what that plan is...you will have to vote for him to find that out. Just like Nixon did...It would cause the Repubs to blow a fuse...although they had no problem with Nixon's secret plan.

13. That is correct! I am a Democrat.
And secret plans often turn out not to be plans at all.

2. hey, that would be a good idea
Not so much secret, but ANYONE on the Dems saying "Bush has no idea how to get us out of Iraq, I do" would be a very powerful strategy in 2004.

4. I don't think it's much of a secret
Most of them know what to do. Most of them are not going to promise to pull us right out, but they'll go back to the UN and try to get some real help and shore up our erstwhile alliances. The machinations behind some of this will be secret, of course, but the broad picture is there. It would behoove our allies to forgive and to give, because that's the best thing they can do to keep a guy like Bush out of the presidency. He scares the rest of the world even more than he scares us.

5. Perhaps this thread will progress into a strategy for the Democrats...?
Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to remind people that Bush has no idea of how to get us out of Iraq. He has no exit strategy. And Democrats will have a strategy to get us out of that country from the first day we are in office...

7. Bush has a plan to get us out of Iraq
Start a war with Syria. We'll need to move all the troops to fight that war. We'll then need to get other nations to go in and prop up the collapsed society we leave behind in Iraq. The good news is that won't happen until Bush* and Co fidn a way to get their hands on the oil and manage a way to keep it flowing straight to the Halliburton tankers.

9. Think of the GOP response
Given the huge percentage of the unwashed masses who believe that the opposition Democratic party is allied to Saddam Hussain and Osama bin Laden, it is not difficult to imagine the GOP response to the announcement of a 'secret plan.' Imagine "the Democrats have a secret plan to surrender to Saddam Hussain" shouted hourly through every propaganda outlet until election day.

Not a good idea.

12. Nixon's secret plan was to send my friends to Vietnam
...at least that's what Jim and John say. Then they laugh and say ... too bad that extreme measure didn't work.

I've been thinking for months that this would be an amusing tactic. Except that the press in this country is right-wing and has been for a hundred years, and they wouldn't let something like that get by.

14. Yeah uhm...
1) most of our presidential candidates won't take us out of Iraq.

2) the ones who will, are going to flat out admit that they want to take us out of Iraq.
