Homeland Security
Was it just me, or did it send shivers down anyone's spines when they announced the creation of "Homeland Security" after 9-11? To me, "Homeland" sounds a little too close to "Fatherland". Isn't this the first step towards creating a fascist society, creating a central domestic intelligence agency? What better way to do this in the US than creating a "Homeland Security Agency", and lumping dozens of existing federal agencies (and creating new ones) under it?

2. That bothered me from the outset
I got chills. I had been a faithfully-voting Repub all along, but I coulnd't help but notice the sudden expansion of government...I had bought the line that the GOP was for individual liberty and protecting the Constitution. I slowly began to see that it was a scam. I had voted for * in 2000. 2004? Donkey all the way, baby.

So I can say that President Bush has been a success in at least one area: he turned a longtime member of his own party into a Democrat. :D
