Warning for DUers sending email to Limbaugh show sponsors

From Bartcop.com, I found this email to Bart today:

"Bart: Imagine my surprise this morning, when I got a phone call from some guy named Brad from the Rush Limbaugh Show.

This morning when I came to work ­ an hour early ­ and was surfing to Bartcop as I am want to do. Via the link provided on your site, I sent an email with the following text.

"Do you really want a hypocritical drug addict pushing your product. You can do better than that"

Rather tame, I'd say. Anyway, I was in our Tuesday editorial meeting, when I get a phone call from Brad Glicklick from the Rush Limbaugh show. He basically threatened me with "I'm going to tell your employer that you are using the internet to send hateful email."

Me: Go right ahead. I'll put you on hold so you can talk to him right now. Amazingly, when my boss went to answer the call, Brad had hung up. We are small weekly, pro-union newspaper. My boss hates Rush more than I do.

ha ha

The point: They are filtering out the email being sent to sponsors. And threatening anyone who doesn't follow the partyline and dares to send one from work.

I just wanted to let folks know, in case you are emailing sponsors of Limbaugh's slopfest what is happening. So much for "free speech," eh?

Listen, I had one of these dittoheads (with whom I served on a board of directors of a charity, no less) pull this crap on me, simply because I emailed her that I was tired of receiving her vehemently anti-French emails. She called my employer, tried to get me fired, told them I was insulting a general, sending threatening emails, etc. Luckily, my employer simply told me not to email anymore to the board of directors where she could get my email addy, and to stay away from her. They thought she was total loonies.

Word of warning, to all folks vulnerable to this type of attack.

She was doing that a while back, calling employers who sent letters to the Washington Post that criticized her. For those that have forgotten, Cece Connally and Katherine Seelye of the NYT were the two "journalists" who spread a lot of the false stories about Gore. Connally was later reprimanded by the WP, not for spreading lies as you would think, but for going on FOX and taking part in a biased discussion. The WP apparently has a policy against that, but not against openly lying about a political candidate, or against trying to get your critics fired from their jobs.

ANyway, nice to see the Repubs still can't play fair.

As far as I can tell, the mail headers from a message coming from you@yahoo.com contains ZERO header information that can be traced back to your place of employment. I'm not saying it's not traceable, but it's a lot harder than simply reading the email header, and I'll bet the EIB people either won't or can't do the digging required to get one user's info. They'll go after the low-hanging fruit first. It's the same principle behind popular car theft prevention devices such as the Club. Sure, if a thief REALLY wanted to steal your car, he could hack through the thing, but in 99.999% of cases, it ain't worth the trouble.
