No, really, this is NOT Portland or some other Lefty stronghold and we PASSED it!

This is Katherine "I only need one more puppie to finish my over-coat" Harris Country dammit!

Props to the local Green Party people that had the spine/patience that carried this through. Same to the odd looking chaps, at the big Public Library meeting (Over 300 people, even Jan Schnieder was there), that called themselves Libertarians too.

To some of the last Liberals/Progressives in SW Floroda:toast:

1. There was a rider on that resolution
outlawed varicose veins on the beach.

Bout damned time!

3. WTF? Did Pee Wee Herman hypnotize them all?
Maybe all the local rednecks realized that the empty gun racks in their pickups weren't a deterrent to Preacher John's designs.

7. I really didn't do much.
Actually this is a good example of how the 9-5pm folks can sometimes get excluded due to weekday morning meetings. I only made the two evening rallies prior to the protest last week (which was too EARLY!).

My compatriots did GOOD though!

8. They did, it's a fact.
We have ten times the number of Dems (Me included) in Sarasota Co. that didn't do what they, the Greens, did.

Actions speak loudly, no?

hear you, green-whineing DUers?

while dems were cringing, the Greens took the lead in fight against fascism in FL.

10. At 1st my jaw dropped
when I read this, but after some more thought, it makes sense. Sarasota has a large senior population and many seniors KNOW the Patriot Act is wrong. They've lived through more.

16. Sure did. At the local level.
which is exactly where they belong at this stage of their game. Now if they would only stop enabling fascism by not lying their asses off during presidential campaigns.

13. Yet ANOTHER piece of evidence why we should
be pounding the chimp on civil liberties.

This could make a huge difference in close states with a lot of libertarian republicans--WV, NM, NV, AZ, MO--if chimp's support softens among them and labor gets out their vote--we could take all these states right from under KKKarl's nose.

17. Good point. Political squables aren't any fun with no 1st Amendment.
Or if people just get swept up/disappeared by Asscroft wannabees.

15. Wow-that's GREAT!
Considering the kind of 'Republican Love' I've heard on The Guy James Show, you guys really had my sympathy.

It's nice to know that average folks are concerned about the Patriot Act-not just us progressives.
