Why the Bush junta MUST be smacked down
It seems the Bush junta is losing control and will fall.

however, it is not enough to do this "behind the scenes" and among politicals pals because of what we have seen from them. If they are not made to fall hard, if the truth is suppressed for some paternalistic bullshit "sake of the republic" then we will have to deal with them all over again too soon.

Consider-

They spent millions of our taxpayer dollars hounding and entrapping a president simply because he wasn't in their pocket.

They overturned the fairness doctrine during Reagan, which has given us Fox "news" and Savage and Hannity and their ilk.

They used "their" Supreme Court to issue what this they called a "one time ruling" to install Bush as president...after they couldn't fix things with former Kashoggi (he ran arms for Poppy's Iran/Contra, btw) stewardess Theresa LaPore and Katherine Harris and operatives they flew in to intimidate the vote counters in Dade County.

Cheney was too "busy" with the energy policy papers to pay attention to the warnings of a terrorist threat...a "spectacular" attack, that four, at least, govts tried to warn them about.

Cheney REFUSED a subpeona over those same papers. he obviously considers himself above the law, which is why the law must crush his abuse of power.

Bush lied to go into a war which was timed for an election, in order to win control of the house and senate.

People (note the plural..which means it was approved, according to conventional wisdom) seem to have outed an intelligence agent who was involved in the hunt for WMD.

in other words, they tried to destroy someone who is telling the truth about them by endangering the life and work of his wife, and the lives of American citizens vis a vis terrorism.

They have used the office of homeland security to hunt down political opponents in Texas when they wanted "special treatment" to redistrict Texas in a way which would not represent people there, but would give them total control.

They have paid people to seek signatures to recall an elected gov in CA...a state with a large electoral vote and a state they want to control...like Texas, in order to suppress any opposition.

Republicans in both of these states have come out against these thuggish tactics.

They have stated their goal of total war and world instability as a way to maintain control over Americans and their govt.

they have already implemented one unconstitutional act to strip the bill of rights of its power, and have another one in the wings.

In other words, these people are a clear and present danger to democracy.

We are looking at totalitarians.

We must bring them down by using the instruments of govt which the founding fathers included to prevent just such tyranny.

This means our elected officials must step up, must put principle before personal gain, must be willing to uphold the oath they take to preserve democracy.

No one who is paying attention can deny, any longer, the threat that the Bush regime is to our very foundation of government.

They cannot be allowed to destroy democracy from within.

This is why the Dems must nominate the candidate with the best chance of winning (Kerry, Edwards, or Graham). It is imperative to remove Bush from office!

2. Agreed; so far from what I've seen
this looks much like a top-down coup. The media has turned on *, and we have little effect. We must make our voices heard... there's a protest planned a year from now, but we need to act sooner. MoveOn and True Majority and all other advocacy groups must act to ensure not only * is brought down, but the kind of things he did will become taboo.

3. you're preaching to the choir
But if there's anyone here who's on the fence about volunteering, getting out the vote, etc., hopefully this will help push them in the right direction

5. really well put, RainDog
I've been trying to figure out happens, beyond regime change. If we merely get a change of faces/puppets, and the same dynamics keep on behind the scenes, we are screwed. It will be slightly less embarrassing if they find someone a little less idiotic and a little more humane to be President, but we will still be screwed.

The power and money and military/weapon/violent stuff are concentrated in the hands of few people. And, they have no morals.

It's tough to get traction, because they use bribery, intimidation, and violence so well.
