Political Matchup: President Dean vs House Majority Leader Delay
Assuming that the Repukes keep hold on the House in 2004, what would legislative battles between President Dean and H.M.L. Tom "the Exterminator" Delay look like after Dean is sworn in in 2005?

Dean's pugnaciousness reminds me of the spunk that President Andrew Jackson had against Clay (who Jackson wanted to shoot) and the 2nd US Bank and Calhoun (who Jackson wanted to hang). Calhoun tried a "peaceable secession" with South Carolina from the Union over a tariff dispute. See http://www.andrewjackson.org/ for more information.

“Unless the corrupting monster should be shraven with its ill gotten power, my veto will meet it frankly & fearlessly.”

Somehow, I could see President Dean saying something similar to that over Repuke legislation that Delay and Hastert would try to pass.

It would be so nice to have a Focused President who would fight the greasy- oppressive- polluters and head them off at the pass.

2. Would like a Dem with his sleeves rolled up
I think he would take the SOB DeLay on, head on. And, he would use the presidency as a Bully Pulpit. DeLay must be stopped. Maybe Dean is the one to do it.

4. Frankly...
...I would rather that the legislative body ground to a halt rather than permit another day in which these GOP clowns advance their agenda in every branch of our government. I think Dean could accomplish that if it were required to get these sons a bitches to stop bankrupting our nation financially, morally and on principle.

6. I think that is Dean's longer term goal
I think with Dean we have a shot at the White House and taking the senate back in 2004. The senate party democraghics would still be close, but we have a shot to get the Dems back in the majority. With Dems in control of the senate, Dean would be able to get his judiciary appointees passed.

The House will be a longer term goal, especially if Texas' redistricting holds up under court review. It will take a massive grassroots movement to reshape the red and blue states from the local and state offices in order to have an effect on the House makeup.

Unlike the other 8 Dems, Dean, I sense, forsees the problem he'd have getting his policies through Congress with the Repukes in total control of Congress. His campaign will not just be about getting him in power, but about reshaping the power between the parties in the nation. That's why he will campaign in every state, especially the red states, bringing his vision for America that he stated in his Great American Restoration speech. And after getting into the White House, he'll be campaigning to get more Democrats in state offices and in Congress.
