Beautiful article about a family friend of mine...
Triumphs Lay in Fights, Not Wins-- Raleigh News And Observer

I've known this woman for probably 7 years now... just a great (if depressing) article about her and her struggle.

1. Though I am an Episcopalian and not a Catholic...
I have been lucky enough to know several nuns and they were unanimously exceptional people. I respect their fight more because they receive less support from the institutional church.

2. I know her!
What a nice article. Thank you for posting this! If you see her, please pass along my warmest wishes.

I was involved in a book study at the Osage Monastery, outside of Tulsa, OK for two weeks. We also studied a Bede Griffiths' book. I honestly enjoyed Why Not Become Fire? better, even though it was really written for women. A fascinating book! I later had the opportunity to meet her. Osage is a great place, too. ( http://www.benedictinesisters.org/b5.html ) Run by the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, the place is totally inclusive and a world-leader in studying "East Meets West" type issues. Very much a Zen atmosphere, it is still a Catholic monastery on-the-left. It was a great experience for the study of Sister Evelyn's book as much as anything. Wonderful woman!

3. Will do
She's already up in Philadelphia, but I think my father and I will be going up to see her at some point in the next month or so. I'll pass along the good wishes.
