We need the United States Miltary Now in San Diego
The San Diego Fire is getting really close to where I live and we need the Miltary and their planes to help extinguished! What are you thoughts about it?

1. the national guard would be nice..
I don't think the fire has crossed Misssion Gorge yet. If Cowles Mountain catches though, we're f@$*3d! I already have a small bag packed, and am ready to boot down my PC and load it in the car. What about you? Are you still at work?

I haven't seen much on TV about Lakeside since this afternoon. Blossom Valley had some fires, and Morena, which I think is near Eucalyptis Hills. Where does your GF stay?

3. well you could prob
use the national guard to help people get the hell out. help in clean up, traffic, and security. i`m not sure they would be effective in fire fighting unless they are trained in fire fighting. i doubt the military has planes designed for fire fighting.good luck california..at least davis is in charge - arnie is/was in vegas this weekend

12. The Forest Service has those planes
They're big Canadian-made planes that scoop up water from a source (usually a lake) and dump it right on the fire. I'd imagine all of them are in California now.

National Guard troops who live in states that have forest fires are trained to fight them. One of my cousins was in the Washington National Guard; I once asked him what his drill weekends were like..."in the summer we train to fight fire. In the winter we maintain our firefighting equipment and do first aid training."

11. I understand that with the speed of the winds that go through the valley..
...that there is really nothing that can stop it. All you can do is get out of the way. I may be wrong, but this is the way I understand it. Good luck.

Don
