2. In this order
1 - Christian Fundamentalists
2 - Defense contractors
3 - NRA
4 - Drug
5 - Cuban American (I question their patriotims for America and therefore the American tag) I would define only those in this group that want this country to invade and overthrow Castro for them instead of doing it themselves.)

Big Tobacco at this point I consider non-effective. Of course that could change. Let's see if Kentucky passes an tax increase on tobacco sales or not. The poll has the citizens favoring it.

Coal ??

Israeli ??

3. jmo but,
1 Defense contractors
2 Big Oil
3 Drug
4 Cristian fundamentalists
5 probably something to do with big business and exporting our jobs

big tobacco is a joke now, they run ads that trash their own product

I have never understood why most democrats side with the palestinians. How would you feel if there was a terrorist attack in your country almost every day, and when you try to do anything about it, everyone bithes at you and the UN passes resolutions condemning you.

9. i suppose you could ask both groups
Maybe I'm alone on this one, but I really think the violence could stop if the palestinians wanted it to bad enough. They cannot seem to accept that Isreal is there and they are going to have to live with it somehow or another.

I can't hardly see anti-castro as evil either, but does anyone else think that the embargo should be lifted? I thought that was one of Bush's campaign promises. He would open up new markets(cuba, lybia etc) to spur the economy or something

24. Welcome to DU
You're hardly alone but you won't be in the majority if you support Israel. Welcome to the modern American Left.

4. What's evil about the Cuban-American lobby?
I've never understood the venom directed toward anti-Castro Cuban-Americans by liberals.

they're also big Democratic supporters as well, much of South Florida where they have their "terror" groups based in is Democratic Party territory. That the most prominent among them are thugs and "terrorists" is the better reason to dislike them.

17. CANF?
They're thugs and supporters of deadly/violent acts against Cubans that would otherwise be called "terrorism" if it wasn't of the sort backed by the US gov't for decades (I don't use the term myself, except mockingly or projecting it as from others), friends of Team Bush right now just as long as he spews rhetoric against Cuba (they're making posturing threats about withdrawing their support of him if he gets soft on Cuba and lets up on the vitriolic rhetoric), but big supporters of the Democratic Party as well when it suits their needs.

19. I learned that here a few months back myself
Edited on Mon Oct-27-03 06:34 PM by Aidoneus
I was aware that the support for these unsavory types was bipartisan (just as a matter of basic politics), but was somewhat surprised at how signifigant their support for the Democratic Party in Florida was in addition to the Republican support. Some of the other posters here that are more familiar with Cuban issues will probably be able to provide much more information on the matter than I can, as I don't have any information of this sort bookmarked except in the file cabinet inside my head.
No prob. :hi:
