53 weeks, 374 days from today-What are YOU going to do?
ELECTION DAY November 4, 2004

I will start by saying that I am currently not working on anyone's campaign either nationally or in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The reason is that I have yet to pick which Democrat running for office that I most support. I have it narrowed down to three and will make that decision after our vacation next week.

Aside from who gets the nomination it is imperative that whomever gets the Democratic nomination will need YOUR support. My wife and I have already agreed that we will work every weekend and some weeknights for/at the local or state office. I personally am planning on diving headfirst into the suburbs west of Richmond, long a Republican hotbed, if I can change or inform just 100 people's minds (each will bring about 2 to 2 1/2 with them)the Dems can win Virginia. That number may seem low but if each person strives for that number we can be successful. We will be out spent probably 4 to 1 but I do feel that even here the winds are changing and that with individual hard work IT CAN HAPPEN!

So what are your plans? What can you do?

5. One letter off
Hell yeah!

AS you know WV is going to be another battleground with SERIOUS NRA money flying in. My relatives there are for some reason Repubes but that is waining as we have a family member who may very well soon be directly affected. Let's just say he was in Afghanistan and "specializes" in that region.

3. Good!
Because your life — and the fate of the world — actually DO depend on voting Bush out of office.

I have to select my vacation time in advance and I took the week prior to the election off. I plan to work the entire week wherever for whoever to do my part to change the regime here at home.

4. Becoming a citizen
Edited on Tue Oct-28-03 09:14 AM by Paganini
I'm finally getting my citizenship so I can contribute to ousting this thug of a president and his cronies. I've been a resident of this country for many years but not until now did I realize the value of voting.

When I decide on a candidate I will volunteer for his campaign.

I think we can remove Bush from office by a grassroots effort. If everyone can get just one or two people to vote who haven't voted in the past we can make November '04 a very ugly day for the Bushes.

11. Cool!

The march was awesome...but there was not a good chance to fundraise. I would have had to march againstthe flow and try to engage people who were not there to be hit up for money. So I thought better of it and simply marched with my sign, promoting my run for Congress.

DUers and others that I already new kicked in a nice amount though. Thank you DUers!

Thanks for the contribution too!!!!

13. Register, register, register
I'll be spending the better part of my weekends for the next year on voter registration drives for my State party. As the election draws near I'll be working on GOTV canvassing and phone banks, and on election day I'll be driving voters to the polls.

I have two nephews in university in Missouri, and they've been talking to me about getting involved in their Democratic campus organizations. I think this is an important outreach and it's never too early, so it's a good thing to encourage any college friends and family to get involved. I'm glad they're both interested in doing this, as Missouri will be an important swing state next year.

I'm not too worried at this point about not being committed to any one candidate (although I'm trending Kerry) because my focus in the next year is working to recruit new Democrats. The rest will sort itself out over time.
