This is the worst press conference performance in the history of U.S.
Edited on Tue Oct-28-03 11:52 AM by demdem
Bush is showing us today why he is not up to the job. He is stuttering around searching for his thoughts. Totally uncertain of his answers. Looking down at his cheat sheet for answers. This guy is a total joke.

5. but apparently they don't really SEE it...they see what they wish for
also, the vast majority of the public will see a couple of sound bites which will portray Great Leader as giving a boffo performance. The hemming and hawing and shuffling from left to right and stuttering and obvious cluelessness will not be highlighted.

where Shrub put on his butch, outraged commander-in-thief personna. That's the one they'll use.

And I'm sure that's the reason it was delivered in this manner.

Yes, he is the absolute worst speaker in the history of the presidency.

54. Molly Ivins in "Mother Jones" Nov/Dec 2003 issue
from "The Uncompassionate Conservative"

<snip>

Bush is just another upper-class white boy trying to prove he's tough. The minute he is questioned, he becomes testy and defensive. That's one reason why they won't let him hold many press conferences.

<snip>

If there were a rationale Bush could express, it would be one thing, but to watch him not see, not make the connection, is another thing entirely. Welfare, Medicare, Social Security, foot stamps -- horrors, they breed dependence. Whereas inheriting millions of dollars and having your whole life handed to you on a platter is good for the grit in your immortal soul? What we're dealing with here is a man in such serious denial it would be pathetic if it weren't damaging to so many lives.

Bush's lies now fill volumes. He lied us into two hideously unfair tax cuts; he lied us into an unnecessary war with disastrous consequences; he lied us into the Patriot Act, eviscerating our freedoms. But when it comes to dealing with those less provileged, Bush's real problem is not deception, but self-deception.

<end>

I don't have a link; I transcribed this from my hard copy.

This article will, in it's entirety, be available at the motherjones website, after the next issue hits the stands. I HIGHLY recommend everyone take advantage of this. If you have the money it would be well worth it to subscribe. These folks do some very good work....if you read their letters to the editor...it becomes apparent that they have the ear of some extremely powerful folks....on both sides of the aisle.

Rome fell also because the mental capacities of their appointed Emperors kept getting lower and lower and lower...

Since the Amnerikan Empire was just created and isn't even fully in place yet I am forced to conclude that these are the Good Old Days.

And that as Bunnypants make us long for the intelligence and relatively law-abiding (notE I said RELATIVELY) od Nixon, so one day will the idiot Bushevik Emperors of the 2030s make us yearn for the the relatively wise, truthful and sober-minded Emperor Bunnypants*.

This I prophesy.

Apparently not the first time he made this degrading remark, either.

QUESTION: Thank you very much, sir, for including radio folks here.

BUSH: Face for radio.

(LAUGHTER)

QUESTION: I wish I could say that was the first time you told me that, sir.

(LAUGHTER)

BUSH: First time I did it to a national audience, though.

QUESTION: Actually my wife the last time.

press conference?

So Shrub basically told this reporter "you're ugly." And people laugh. And it will be totally ignored in the dominant press.

Why, oh why, didn't the reporter respond with something like "so you're telling me I'm ugly? In front of everyone here, and on national TV you're insulting my physical appearance? What, sir, makes you think you have the right to do that?"

"And by the way, you look like a monkey, and your mom looks like Mrs. Claus mummified. So fuck you."

In reponse to the radio reporters (Mark Smith?) question on why the U.S. taxpaper should foot the $87B Iraqui bill, he IMMEDIATELY went to his "Saddam bad man" rote response!! I swear, if someone asks him what tomorrows weather will be the moran will respond "Saddam, bad man, terrorisths, hate us for or freedom, tax cuts."

I would now like to apologize to the rest of the world on behalf of thinking Americans everywhere.

I posted this in another thread that this was the most painful press conference I have ever witnessed. He broke up thoughts into separate sentences, his pregnant pauses seemed like they took nine months to end and he repeated the same crap he's been saying for the last two years. I mean parrots aren't trained that well. He even corrected his past by first saying that Saddam was a threat then he said, "I think what I used was Saddam was a gathering threat." What in the world was that? If anybody ever again questions me about marching on Saturday, I will point them in the direction of this disaster we call President. We have to get this man out of office-- he is the worst!

37. I don't think Bush wants the job
he wants the title and have others doing things the way he wants it. However to be Prez he has to explain his thinking/logic to the masses and I don't think he cares to do that.

I bet he can't wait for his term/s to end. This job is so above him.

51. Which raises the question,
how can a transcript show 'dead air'?

"Um . . . (pause) . . . er . . . (pause) . . . ah . . . Melvin Belli?"

53. Sorry I missed it, normally I don't watch Bush* on tv.
But with the messages on this board, now we know why he never gives formal press conferences.

55. That's a Trick Question!!!
So can you promise the American people that there will be less troops in Iraq next Summer?

Bush's reply"That's a trick question and I'm not going to answer it."

I wonder if he'll start designating all questions as being ones of trickery, the closer the election gets.

61. Can you imagine Clinton getting away with that one?
When are the press going to all loudly groan at one of his answers or follow up with "its a trick question???? when our soldiers leave Iraq is a TRICK QUESTION? What are you? a moron?? Yeah, I know. When hell freezes over.

56. I mean, really, how can we rate them anymore?
Each time he shows up it simply gets worse. He was poor to begin with.

How can anyone in their right mind vote for this fraud in 2004?

57. Imagine having to *wake up* to that moran
thanks to the time difference in Hawai'i! I thought I was having another nightmare about some brain-dead idiot stealing an election and pretending to be President...

Cripes, what if Lieberman gets the nomination? Here's your debate transcript:

Bush*: Ummmmm.... um..... ummmm....

Lieberman (doing his David Hartman impression): Duh...... duh... duh.....

64. He seemed even more "dumbed down"
as he was reading the statement - like he was really out of it. When it came to answering questions, he did the usual - nothing.

65. Scripted Speech?
It seems like the reporters were given the questions in advance. Bush acted like he was jumping ahead when he called on a reporter.

71. This is why we need the U.S. version of the "Prime Minister's Questions" -
If we had that as a part of the process, Bush could never get elected. At the very least, his approval ratings would be in the low 20s.
