and, note that "jobs" is not one of the subject areas.
neither are "GM foods", "civil liberties", or "agent orange" or "depleted uranium", "global warming", "impeachment", "lies", or many other plausible topics.
to be fair, each of these issues might conceivably fit under one of the available topics. for example, "global warming" might fit under Environment/AtmosphericIssues. but it takes extra effort to figure out how to fit your subject into one of their categories.
and to top it all off, when i just tried this now, some of the web pages along the path took MINUTES to load.
another interesting feature of the web site is that the form you have to fill out, has a field for "title" where the choices are not just the standard Mr/Mrs/Ms, but there are dozens of additional entries for military ranks, all the way from "Airman First Class" to "Admiral".
despite the obvious bias toward military submissions, veterans were slighted in the topics area. i don't recall seeing any topic for "veterans benefits".
you don't get to choose your greeting or your closing.
it's "Dear President Bush" at the top, and "Sincerely, XXX" at the bottom.
there is some good news, however. according to the FAQ, you can still send email to president@whitehouse.gov . although, the text seems to imply that such emails may be handled with a lower priority.
