Edited: I made an incorrect statement about MOE.

But still, this is good news for Dems and Clark

2. HI poll newbie reader
I guess I'll be the one to let you know that the moe here means that Clark could have as little as 12%, and Lieberman/Dean as much at 18%.

"Clark, the newcomer, has jumped right to the head of the pack, with 17 percent of Democratic voters. Lieberman and Dean are tied at 13 percent each, with Gephardt at 12 percent and Kerry at 10 percent. Undecided ties Clark with 17 percent."

From October 23 - 27, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,262 registered voters nationwide, with a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percent. The survey includes 403 Democrats with a margin of error of +/- 4.9 percent.

3. What's more stunning:
Clinton would walk away with the nomination, which is hard to believe.

3. Suppose New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton decides to run for president in 2004. Who would you most like to see the Democrats nominate for president in 2004? New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman, Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, Missouri Congressman Dick Gephardt, North Carolina Senator John Edwards, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean, the Reverend Al Sharpton, former Illinois Senator Carol Moseley-Braun, Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich or retired General Wesley Clark?

Dem
Clinton 43
Lieberman 8
Kerry 7
Gephardt 8
Edwards 5
Dean 7
Sharpton 1
Moseley-Braun 1
Kucinich 1
Clark 10
DK/NA 10

8. What this really shows....and I'm excited about
Is that we have an extremely strong Democratic field. So our First Shrublady's snide comment about our field was a sorry bunch means that her shrub in chief can be ousted by a sorry field.

Isn't that funny as hell!

5. Good News for all
They are all closing in on Bush and Dean has made remarkable strides in this poll--only six-points behind Bush. As for who leads the democratic pack there is no clear leader in any national poll. Dean leads narrowly in Zogby and the latest Gallup poll and Clark leads narrowly in this poll. I'd say nationally it could be preceived as anybody's ballgame--even Lieberman's. But if you look at polls in key early caucus/primary states it tells a somewhat different story than the national polls.

6. Clarks numbers look good considering the sleazy attacks by
the Rove machine. I'd expect Dean's numbers to go up. God knows the corporate press is doing enough cheerleading for him.

7. Obsession for men!
You can't even participate in a Clark thread without making it about Dean. How's THAT for a fixation?

11. He Has A Point
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 09:45 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
The right wing punditocracy has their long knives out for Clark because they know that for all his flaws and real or percieved amateurishness as a candidate his military bonafides make him the most dangerous opponent for Chimpy...

15. But Their Motives Are Different
Joe and Howard want the same thing that Wes Wants...

The right wing is intent on doing everything to level the playing field for Bush which means saddling us with a weak candidate...

10. I Would Exclude Lieberman...
His trend is downwards.

He was polling at 40% in January.... He's down to 12% now....

He's going in the wrong direction....

This is essentially a five man race and as an analyst and not an advocate I'd give the nod to Dean but it wouldn't suprise me if Gep, Kerry, Edwards, or Clark won the nomination....

Democrat Since Birth Handicaps the 04 Democratic Race....

Dean 1-2

Gephardt 3-1

Clark 4-1

Kerry 4-1

Edwards 6-1

Lieberman 8-1

Mosely Braun 100-1

Sharpton 100-1

Kucinich 100-1

My analysis is based on several factors including national polls, state polls, primary scedule, cash on hand, and individual and institutional support...

9. Here is a great quote by Clark
"I think it is outrageous. He blamed the sailors for that and it is something -- an event -- that his advance team staged. I guess that next thing we are going to hear is that the sailors told him to wear the flight suit and prance around on the aircraft carrier. This is a president who does not want to take accountability,"

12. That Flight Suit Stunt
will come back to haunt him...

George Soros should finance some commercials juxtaposing * in his faux flight suit behind the "Mission Accomplished" sign with the chaos in Iraq...

14. THIS time?
Boy, that sure says a lot about credibility.

Anyone who believes polls in America would probably think the pretzeldent was doing a fine job and loved by all Americans.

19. These polls mean little unless we find Bush under 50%
Many of my friends are beginning to say that they expect Bush to pull some dirty trick to win the election. Here in Indiana we already had problems with a GOP-designed ballot that is going to be used this November. I don't think we are alone.
