Rumsfeld Aides Admit: Iraq first of many invasions
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/iraq/complete/la-na-postwar18jul18,1,7035725.story?coll=la-home-headlines

The LAT buries the lede in this article on post-invasion failures and missteps. This lengthy article concludes with the following quotes:

Looking back from the third floor of the Pentagon, Feith dismissed such criticism as "simplistic." Despite initial problems, he said, progress is being made, with order returning to most of the country and a new Iraqi governing council in place.

Still, he and other Pentagon officials said, they are studying the lessons of Iraq closely — to ensure that the next U.S. takeover of a foreign country goes more smoothly.

"We're going to get better over time," promised Lawrence Di Rita, a special assistant to Rumsfeld. "We've always thought of post-hostilities as a phase" distinct from combat, he said. "The future of war is that these things are going to be much more of a continuum....

"This is the future for the world we're in at the moment," he said. "We'll get better as we do it more often."

2. Mother of god!
These people are lunitics! Where do these morons come from? No I mean it! Where in this country are children taught that you can just conquer the world if you want to? Not from our history! Not from rational parents who teach their children to play by the rules, be honest, and care for your fellow man! Who the hell are these people?

5. not in the next 2-4 years, I don't think...

Where would we get the troops? A draft?

Our primary combat force is tied up in Iraq right now. I would be horrified to see an invasion of North Korea or Syria attempted with Reserves or National Guard troops.

Of course, you could use those troops to relieve the main combat divisions, but then they'll still get chewed up in the occupation.

Very bad.

8. Okay, so Lawrence De Rita is going to jail too.
The draft is the only way the Fuhrer could make this
happen and the draft will NEVER happen. Never. Not again.
Not for aggressive war against non-hostile or any other
country.

These guys will be impeached.

9. Yeah, learn as you go
After all, it's not like anybody they know has died in Afghanistan or Iraq, so what's the big deal?

Okay, for Paul and Condi and some of the other stone brains in this corrupt administration, here's a few pointers, free of charge, from your old pal gratuitous:

1. Planes can be used as weapons. So can guns, missiles, rockets, flintlocks, muzzle loaders, slingshots, and shards of glass. This is not meant as an exhaustive list.

2. When you overthrow a dictator and remove his framework of oppression, the social order will break down.

3. Nothing's ever "over". The recent hostilities in Serbia go back to the year 1288. Keep that in mind, because you might not be in power forever. (Yes, I realize that's tantamount to treason in your eyes, but that doesn't make it any less true.)

Give me a call if you want some more, but that should do for now.
