U.S. Dissident Says Bush Needs Fear for Reelection

U.S. linguist and political dissident Noam Chomsky said on Wednesday that President Bush will have to "manufacture" another threat to American security to win reelection in 2004 after U.S failure in occupying Iraq.

1. I tend to agree with him on this -- I've been afraid of this for a while.
It doesn't mean it has to be a conspiracy attack fo some sort. I'm not going as far as to say that BushCo would have a hand in an attack that killed Americans. Maybe, maybe not, I just don't see it as necessary to go there.

Instead, I know for sure that they will attempt to build up the case for a thread very much like they did for Iraq and try to put Americans back into damange control mode, full of fear and concerns for safety...

2. Ok, ok
Chomsky's opinions to the side

What is wrong with this picture, Reuters used the word
DISIDENT.

Okay have we all suddenly woken up in Stalinist Russia and
Dissent is no longer American?

Fear, my friends is their tool, and usinig the word disident
is but one way of doing it

3. I took it as a compliment - and Chomsky's been called that for ages...

On the jackets of his own books, and in his own words. So I don't think anyone considers it negative in relation to him - its what he calls himself.

It wouldn't be the first time this administration has played fast and loose with the truth.

5. China could be one
They've already begun.

No, not a military threat, an economic one. They're playing the same game as they did with Japan in the 80s -- claiming our economy is in the shitter because of China's unfair trade practices. Closed markets, undervalued currency, and a tinge of fear that a nascent powerhouse will overtake our position as number one. We've seen it before.

7. Chomsky used the word "re-election"?
Pet peeve of mine. bush was never elected, how can he be re-elected? Repubs are masters of language manipulation and control, we need to take a page out of their book. And truth is really on our side on this issue.

9. And lets hope the Democrats don't fail to lead again.
The question in 04 is going to be, "who do you want to follow?"
There has to be sharp differences or the Democrats will lose again.
Thats why Dean is so successful and why the Republicans are afraid of him. And thats why they are afraid of Clark. A Dean/Clark team would wipe the floor with the Bushie cabal.
