MSNBC's Saturday Morning Propaganda
Edited on Sat Nov-01-03 01:37 PM by ZombyWoof
Good gawd!! Forget journalism, let's just watch the reporer baiting the children in the streets by asking them "Who do you like better? Saddam or Bush?"

"BUSH! BUSH!" chant the happy children. Giggle! He also led them in little cheers for America, and the soldiers. (Note to soldiers: I appreciate your service, and don't want to denigrate anyone speaking on your behalf, but you have to admit that was a manipulative display of "support" from people too young to know better).

What a false choice. Plus, we all KNOW Saddam was a vicious despot, so it isn't like young children don't know that, but baiting children with that choice??? :puke: They KNOW the middle American audience will eat that up. "Oh look! The CHILDREN! We did it for THEM!"

What sickens me is that this was a shameless example of "let's be positive about Iraq in our coverage!" on a nakedly crass exhibition.

Mitigating, but subtle detail:

The "reporter" (cheerleader for Bush) turned to a soldier and asked whether this kind of support for the troops (and Bush, and America by implied extension) was typical and just not reported enough. The soldier grimly replied, "Well, for this area, maybe." (my emphasis) BAM! His face, even more than the words, said it all. Tired, weary, and succinctly honest.

I doubt if that jackass clwon with the microphone would even dare venture into a less friendly area, and GE-owned MSNBC wouldn't dare cover it.

I would have been watching MST3K, but the time zone change here in AZ (we don't do Daylight Savings) causes it to start an hour later than normal this time of year, and I was surfing. Lucky me. I watched with compelling and nauseating fascination as MSNBC put on a happy pro-Bush face.

My last word on this: Bring the troops home, and peace to all.

1. I guess I'm glad I missed it...
At least I didn't have to clean up my own coffee puke (after witnessing such banal propaganda...)

4. This is campaign 2004. MSNBC is an arm of the RNC.
No doubt about it. They may give us 20% of the stories to portray themselves as fair in allowing Dem issues to be raised, but, 80% of their time will be spun for Bush and the GOP. Jack Welch wants Bush back in, and no one else will have a say. Russert and his news division will do as Jack says.
