Poll question: Who is your choice for the Democratic Presidential Nomination?
OK let's try this again. The first poll was lost in the GD data loss (an election rigging effort by somebody who didn't like the results, hmmmm....);)

Please vote--vote again if you voted the first time--and make known your preference to the progressive communitty.

I will work to keep this poll kicked, as I hope to draw 300 voters here.

4. Kerry
I used to be a Dean supporter but now with his constant putting down of the Dems I've switched to Kerry.

I don't agree with the Dems who voted for the war but we can't harp on them so much that we remain a minority party!

17. Gore/Clark has been in my thoughts lately too.
I don't like Kerry's asociation with the DLC.
Dr. Dean's either...he seems like the DLC "stealth" candidate, and a little more republican than lite, when it comes to the repub-lite candidates.

Gore/Clark has a good feel, but unless the media was onboard this time around, it would never work.

19. Don't forget to seriously check out Edwards
It's nice to see him gaining in our polls.

You'll note that in the national polls, it goes Gephardt, Lieberman, Kerry, Dean, Edwards.

Personally, I think it's only name recognition that gives those first two much of any presence at all, and I don't think they have a chance (or a prayer, in Quisling Joe's case).

Don't forget that your duty as a human being is not to "win" and have "your guy/gal" be the one chosen, but to pick the one who's best for the country from among the ones who have a chance. Acrimonious though it often gets here, there's been a lot of very constructive mutual education here of late, and that's always good.

20. Dean. But in the end, ABB.
It's still early yet in the process -- some of the candidates (like Edwards) have been holding back, planning on the late surge.

I really like Dean all around, but if he's not the nominee, I will still vote Democratic.

Kucinich would be my #2 choice, with Kerry #3.

28. BOB GRAHAM
If it isn't already obvious, I plan on voting for Senator Bob Graham of Florida! He has the most traction on national security issues, he is ultraliberal on environmental issues, he has the most progressive tax policy as of now, he has executive experience, he has an outstanding record with minorities including a huge support for affirmative action in a Southern state that is not exactly gung ho for affirmative action, and the list goes on. And he is speaking his mind these days, unafraid to challenge Dubya on any area of discussion. Actually, he challenged Dubya to a one-on-one debate in Florida at the end of June that Dubya refused! So hey! It's Graham time! Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines, the Graham # 50 Truck may be racing by your hometown! :)

The General is getting a of of write in's and I'll be sure to tally them when I do a report of this poll tomorrow. The reason he is not on the ballot is because a) he is not an officially declared candidate, and b) there are only 10 slots, and I'd like to have one for write in's (Hillary, Gore, Biden, etc.) and undecideds.

amongst other reasons, it is my opinion that he is "electable." That is the most important consideration to me right now. I believe we are living in dangerous times and also I have a 16 year old son with a bright future if he doesn't get drafted. Regime change yeah, that is all I care about now. Although I will support General Clark at a grass roots level if he decides to run as a democrat. I would like to see a Kerry/Clark run and believe that they would be unbeatable. At least that is my opinion at this stage of the game.

(Repeating myself from another thread)

Sometimes one makes a choice between the ideal and the (more) electable. Personally I like Dean's message but he appears too caustic for the general public though his bluntness appeals to me greatly. I favor him over Edwards on Software patent law (based on observations) and maybe on the war.

That said, I think Edwards would be the most palatable to the majority and would be able to rip dubya a new, smiling warmly the whole time.

Edwards/Dean would be great because no other sitting Dem is lost to higher office and hopefully you retain the early energy and enthusiasm that Dean for America has brought to the process.

But that does mean the real votes will break down that way. not all primary voters are internet users and this is a national sample, which is of little relevance in a New Hampshire or Iowa race. In fact people in those states like to snub the "national" candidate.

70. Here's My Two Cents For What It's Worth
I want to beat Bush and I have no dog in the Democratic primary fight. The last politician who really excited me was Robert Francis Kennedy. The man was as close to a saint as the our political system allows. He was charismatic, empathetic, and intellectually curious.

That being said I will rate the Democrats in descending order who have the best chance of removing the right wing junta from the White House

1) John Kerry

2) Bob Graham

3) John Edwards

4) Dick Gephardt

5) Joe Lieberman

6) Howard Dean

7) Carol Mosely Braun

8) Dennis Kucinich

9) Al Sharpton

None of these candidtes are perfect but they are an improvement over the Reactionary Republican who currently occupies The White House.

Of his famly's name;
When if comes to stealin';
They're all pretty much the same;
When he tells the country lies about it's true condition;
He sez leave me alone;
I'm skull and bones it's a Famillllly Tradition!

Shrub,,,why did you Snort Coke;
Whyyyyy do you blo smoke;
Why can't you read all them speeeeeches they wrote;
When shit hits the fan you wanna' hiiiide your real position;
If you get stooooned and steal Aall day long;
It's A famillllllly tradition!

Lordy Shrub has loved his money;
And and acts like Judge Roy Bean;
And Asscrust don't like tittys;
He thinks they're tooooo obscene;
When Shrub gets caught in some big fib;
About his real position;
He sez, Leave me alone, I'm sneaking home;
It's a family tradition;

And tell me Shrub,,,why did you Snort Coke;
Whyyyyy do you blo smoke;
Why can't you read all them speeeeeches they wrote;
When shit hits the fan you wanna' hiiiide your real position;
If you get stooooned and steal Aall day long;
It's A famillllllly tradition!

Sorry Hank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

72. Clark
Wesley Clark provided he is opposed to the death penalty.
Even though Dean has created a great resume because he is antiwar. His pro death penalty philosophy probably will mean I will not vote for him.

80. kerry, but
I voted for Kerry. If Clark gets in, I may switch to him depending on his domestic positions.
