Fierce firefight? Who were they? Tony Montana?
Edited on Tue Jul-22-03 04:55 PM by Fuzz
4 guys, 1 that apparently needed help getting around, another a teenager, able to hold off the 101st airborne in a 4-6 hour (depending on who you listen to) 'fierce firefight'? Is this making sense?

"Say hello to my little friend!"

Edit:

Don't get me wrong, if they are dead, I'm glad.

3. If it really was U&Q I won't cry over them, but wouldn't it have been just
a little more sensible to keep the joint surrounded and at least TRY to get them to surrender? Maybe they would have killed themselves, but think how much more valuable they would have been alive/captured. That been said, I'm still FAR from convinced they are who the * cabal sez they are.

Apparently they were 'identified' by showing a picture of the corpses to some ex-Iraqi general who "knew them."

uh huh.
Yep.
Right.

4. Use The Power of Psy-Ops
A sure-fire way to drive them out after surrounding them: Psy-Ops!

24-7 Toby Keith blaring from loudspeakers. They would not stand a chance. Surrender would be imminent.

8. No, the Power of the Psyop
is now used almost exclusively on the Imperial Subjects of Amerika.

9. i wouldn't want them alive
no courts in place to try them.
constant threat of "rescue"
snatching westerners to exchange for them.

they probably tried to get them alive but i wouldn't have.

6. Seven
4 Killed 3 wounded. Now admittedly 1 on them was a teenager and 1 was in a wheelchair. But properly barricaded a few can hold off a large number.

7. Horseshit
7 guys barricaded might be able to "hold off" the cops, but only because they are hamstrung, so to speak, by their rules of engagement and the fact that they are trying to defuse the situation with everyone alive.

The military are under no such obligation. This story is a Stalinist Joke.

But then, sooooo much of Imperial Amerika has become a Stalinist Joke since the Imperial Family seized the Old Republic.

11. I totally agree...
A properly defended house is not easy to take. Depending on number of doors, windows, layout, thickness of walls, etc- it can take a long time to ferret someone out who doesn't want to come out.

I have no information to the contrary, but the 4 hour time span means nothing to me.

14. Um. Then you try not to blow the entire building up.
Whatever happening to a good old fashioned siege?! It's not like they had anywhere to go.

15. Well, I don't know what your experiences have been
in this type of situation, but the last time it happened to my infantry company--in fact, EVERY time it happened to my infantry company--we got our asses down & called in every kind of support we could get. 105's 155's Naval artillery, aerial rocket artillery, air strikes, whatever it took. Then we went in and sorted through the pieces. That was SOP in the 1st Cav in 'Nam. I don't care if it was 1 sniper, we dumped a big pile of stuff that goes Bang on the target before we went and stuck our noses out.

Marines didn't do it that way. They just assaulted the target with their small arms. They took a lot more casualties than us, too.

So judge for yourself if this story makes any sense. Just doesn't sound right to me somehow, but then what do I know? Been 35 years since I got into a social occasion of that sort.
