Remember that page at whitehouse.gov
that showed photos of the President working on the SOTU -
and a banner that said something about "deception"? I can't find it. Does anyone have the link? Has it been removed?

1. looks like it has been cleaned up to me
I think this is the same link as the page you seek. You might search Buzzflash's mailbag for the original story.

5. I fear that may be wishful thinking...

I looked at that page and the 16 words were still in the transcript. As much as I was hoping they'd do something that sleazy... x(

Start at the top of the page and do a word find for "uranium." The second instance you come across is one of the 16 words.

EDIT - beaten by seconds! :D

6. Is this it?

President George W. Bush prepares his State of the Union Address with White House speechwriters Matthew Scully, left, Mike Gerson, center, and John McConnell in the Oval Office Jan. 23, 2003.

President Bush reviews the text with Director of Presidential Speechwriting Michael Gerson in the Oval Office, Jan. 23, 2003.

Sketching notes in the margin of speech drafts, President Bush rewrites portions of the address in the Oval Office Jan. 23, 2003.

8. Checked the Wayback Machine ...
Looks like archiving has been turned off since December 2002. Might try searching the archive using specific web directory names though.

Seems that unlike the Clinton Administration, the Bushies make several web pages changes a day.

Checkout the first Whitehouse webpage ...

The Clinton Admin swan song (sniff, miss the good ole days)
http://web.archive.org/web/20010118204900/http://www1.whitehouse.gov/
... and this crappy homepage replacement.
http://web.archive.org/web/20010202161100/http://www.whitehouse.gov/index.html

And this tibit from Bush's 2002 SOTU speech ...

Our second goal is to prevent regimes that sponsor terror from threatening America or our friends and allies with weapons of mass destruction. Some of these regimes have been pretty quiet since September the 11th. But we know their true nature. North Korea is a regime arming with missiles and weapons of mass destruction, while starving its citizens.

Iran aggressively pursues these weapons and exports terror, while an unelected few repress the Iranian people's hope for freedom.

Iraq continues to flaunt its hostility toward America and to support terror. The Iraqi regime has plotted to develop anthrax, and nerve gas, and nuclear weapons for over a decade. This is a regime that has already used poison gas to murder thousands of its own citizens -- leaving the bodies of mothers huddled over their dead children. This is a regime that agreed to international inspections -- then kicked out the inspectors. This is a regime that has something to hide from the civilized world.

What tripe ...
