I just returned from a yearly visit to my vet who's been looking after my dog for years. I knew he was on the "right," so I've always tried to steer clear of political discussions. Today, he scared me. First, he said we should have national identity cards. Which I don't find particularly alarming, but he followed that with a rant about how crazy it is we can move so freely inside the U.S. and said we should post federal guards at all state borders who check your I.D. as you move from state to state. After the initial shock I thought he must be kidding. Sadly, no. Avoiding the obvious comparison to Nazis or any number of other facist states I just said that's not really practical considering all the roads that crisscross our great land. He relented a little by saying "Yeah, you're probably right." Can you believe I resorted to practicality in order to rein this guy in? And so much for that smaller, less intrusive federal government. Come to think of it, maybe I should check my dog for a listening/tracking device injected with her rabies vacination. :tinfoilhat:
