10. Look, a tenth of the vote isn't even in yet.
We should have a high turn out, at least 800,000 if voters get out like they have in the past.

Don't give up hope!

And get drunk anyway!

I need another glass of wine.

Keep in mind, folks, that we expect a HIGH turnout, and that means at least 800,000 voters.

I haven't seen any breakdown on it. but as another poster pointed out...
Rankin county uses electronic voting machines. That area is HEAVY Repub, and its precincts will come in first.

Delta uses paper ballots, as far as I know, and traditionally come in late.

Many towns there, like Mound Bayou, are 100% black. Even the bigger towns like Cleveland, Indianola, Greenville, Greenwood, Clarksdale, etc. are black majority.

So most of the Delta vote will go to Musgrove. It's way too early to give up.

69. Probably just election night jitters,
but I am always suspicious of late reporting areas that have machines.

On tv AG Mike Moore and fmr gov Fordice were trading speculation over how late reporters would break, blahblah.

The vibe I got from Moore, was like 'there's a lot of votes to make up', tho he didn't say so exactly.

My 49-49 prediction is about as optimistic as I can seem to get. (But it'll do!)

76. Notice it's narrowing...expect that trend to continue...
because we haven't seen the delta and hinds report yet.

83. You know MS better than I
I'm just a casual observer. I don't really know much about Mississippi politics. I take heart in knowing that Musgrove has overcome this before in 1999.

75. Haven't seen enough info to concede just yet
Agreed that things aren't looking great. I expect the number to close considerably. Polls showed this a pretty even race coming in, and it looked like we got a sizable turnout late in the day.

82. Here's the deal...
poorer districts had not enough booths. people were waiting in line for hours to vote, BUT THE STAYED THERE UNTIL HOURS AFTER THE POLLS CLOSED. For example, voters were still in line in the Delta, which is mostly black, mostly dem. And polls had to stay open as late as an hour ago because voters were still in line in Hinds. That means that as late as an hour ago, votes were still being cast in the poorer, more heavily Dem precincts.

SOOO, when those votes come in, expect to see a narrowing of the margin, if not Musgrove pulling ahead.

As I said before, there are as many Delta votes out as have already been reported in heavily Repub Rankin an Madison County. Also, some Dem precincts in South MS (Coast) still out.

80,000 votes minimum in Hinds alone.

92. Haley the Barberous made this the most racist gov race in over 20 years.
Twenty mil spent on this po' little state's gov race. Heavy hitters like aWol, his brother, Rudy etc dropping by to slop Haley.

Ronnie by 1 vote would be ultimate vindication.

I remember how much they whined when the polls were kept open in black wards of St. Louis is 2000.

108. Actually they are a bit full of themselves,
probably think they've bagged it regardless.

They did put on a big show this time, but so did Musgrove. We really appreciate all the help we got from beyond the Magnolia Curtain.

And I think the gov is still in this fight. I've been proud of him the last few weeks. He's a worker.

104. I'm pretty sure our precincts closed on time here
and they had the final results about 15 minutes ago. If people were still voting in Hinds County at 9:45, it could be some time after midnight.

107. JUST ON WLBT...PRECINCTS STILL OUT INCLUDE:
Hinds and Delta precincts. This is REALLY GOOD FOR MUSGROVE!!

Look guys, I live in a small town and I had to wait for 30 minutes tonight to get a ballot, and then another 15 for a booth to come open. There were only 3 booths! Could have used 15. For retired people, that's ok, but for working people, they get frustrated and leave.

Other issues:

Republican monitors were intimidating voters by videotaping them signing their names and casting their votes. How would you like to have some old crone with a sanyo in your face while you do this? Goddam it, I have defended my state to no end, but if Musgrove loses......
....
...

Who wants to adopt me? Can't be a Californian; I want to live in a Dem governed state. :-)
