Kentucky Voters Buck 3 Decades Of Democrats in Governor's Seat
Washington Post - 10 minutes ago
With a little more than 90 percent of the state's precincts reporting, Fletcher, 50, a three-term House member from Lexington, held a 55 percent to 45 percent lead over his Democratic opponent, Attorney General AB "Ben" Chandler III. Google

1. With a 39% turnout...
That would mean that less than 20% of the turnout was Democratic...

2. In my small eastern KY county
The voter turnout was pathetic (27.1%), but Democrats won every election there with the exception of Comm. of Agriculture.

Chandler beat Fletcher 53.8% to 46.2% in my county.

5. Then perhaps the Dems need
to field more former basketball players (as with Richie Farmer on the other side). Bell County here, nonconformist.

10. Kentuck
As a small consolation, I report that someone special we both know and love voted (absentee) straight Dem ticket. Just thought you'd like to know.
As for excuses for the small turnout, I'm at a loss. I suspect, as with others in other places, our people just don't realize that their vote makes a difference. I'm terribly downcast over the turnout, but it's been coming for a while.

6. Election is too close to "check day"
If they'd hold it toward the end of the month, the registered voters would be more "hard up" for a few bucks. Sarcasm was never on.
