*sigh* My guy lost his election.
But he ain't no loser, and I'll be happy to go to the mat with anyone who says so.

We got bupkis from the state organization. Squat, save a really nice notebook with all sorts of neat talking points, graphs and pictures. Wheel chocks like that are always helpful. They make good doorstops, as well. Byt when it came to monitary aid from the State Committee? Not a damn thing.

In their headlong rush to maximize their expenditures, they decided to write this district off. The incumbents, both repuke pod people, serve a useful purpose: As foils. Every time they open their mouth, they can be used as examples of repuke extremism and cluelessness. So, I guess that it is good for the dems to have them there. Gives them something to laugh and point at. Sucks for us in the district, though.

Oh well. We gave it the best we had, with what we had to work with, and we didn't have a hell of a lot. The one thing we did have was one whip-smart candidate, one hell of a good man that I am honored to now call "friend". I am also quite ready to do it again for him, anytime and anywhere. Any office, too.

I will say this, though, from personal experience: The Dems need good candidates, good men and women. Candidates of true ethical fiber and real promise. They need to recognize them and nurture them. They need that constant flow of new blood. Here, in this state, I am afraid that there is a little too much smelling of one's piss, by minor party factotums, for that to happen. Throughout the whole Dem system, that has got to change. Dems, at all levels, have got to get right and get tight with the challenges and the responsibilities in front of us. There are a lot of good people out there who are struggling mightily, and the dems have got to give them unambiguously good candidates and unambiguously good reasons to vote for those candidates, in unambiguous words that people can understand. Now is no time to be timid or countenance personal agendas on the part of anyone in the party, especially from someone who is trying to scratch and claw their way to the middle. The stakes are far too high and the time is far too short.

Oh well, my guy is getting touted for another election, next year, and his vote count was high enough that I think he's got legs. Xoops will be a far better website package by then, too. ;-)

Damn, an Olympic-Sized Vodka Martini, with anchovy-stuffed olives would be pretty good now. Too bad I don't drink. :D
