First gay African American mayor elected in Palm Springs

I thought this was encouraging.

Even in Jeb Bush's Florida, the first major city in the United States elected a gay African American mayor in Palm Springs, Florida.

PS I'm not out to pee on this, but Palm Springs is, well, not really a major city. It's a 'burb of West Palm Beach, and it's population is something on the order of 30,000 or so. Still. A step in the right direction.

5. I'm with ya

It's actually MORE surprising that it was Palm Springs, cuz I've been throught that area a ton of times, and it is WHITE TRASH-VILLE! For someone gay AND black to be elected mayor of say, West Palm, or Lauderdale, I'd be like "ok." But it's a HUGE surprise to see one of these WASPy 'burbs! This is actually a BETTER thing than being elected mayor of one of the bigger cities!

And the more places W feels uncomfortable, the better.
On the other hand, I feel like spending some tourist dollars there in support.
