DK's remarks at the debate last night
<http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A64721-2003Nov4_5.html>

These are the best remarks I have seen DK have. (I should point out I am a Dean supporter and frequently cite DK for talking about Iraq all the time and nothing else. This was great.)

"Number three, cut the Pentagon budget by 15 percent and put that money into universal pre-kindergarten."

"Number four, take the money from the Bush tax cuts that went to the top bracket and put it into a fund to create universal college education, tuition free, for all those young people who go to public colleges and universities all across this country. We can afford it. What's our priority? "

"Number five, get the National Aeronautics and Space Administration involved in developing new energy technologies, new environmental technologies. Create a whole new America, a new economy and jobs for all, a full employment economy. "

I didn't include 1 and 2 because they are his stock answers that we can all say verbatim.

1. Dennis was better last night
than he has been. I'm not one of his supporters but I appreciated his efforts last night. He did a good job.

2. DK's ideas are the best for creating the America we want
"radical"?

I don't think so. I think he's just espousing the true Democratic principles that we've allowed ourselves to surrender over the last generation.

He has a vision for the America I want to live in and that I want my childrten to live in.

5. Exactly. He's common sense, not radical
The radicals are the likes of Lieberman and the Repubs.

3. It is his vision
that inspires me. Will he get it all if elected? No. Will the national dialoge change? Yes. This is the beginning.

7. Though I share his views
I'm not deluding myself by thinking he even stands a chance. His campaign warchest is under a million dollars. It's a pity money makes elections, but this is how a "true" democracy works...

8. His campaign
addresses this by its very being and his continuing. Money should not be the deciding factor, neither should the media. His voice is an important one and he is getting his policies out there. By hanging in he is challenging the "true" democracy and the way it works. You gotta respect that. I do and I will continue to support him until he either gets the nomination or is out.

4. Dean is much too liberal for America.
Cutting the defense budget by 15% (although it does need to be done!) and replacing it with "pre-kindergarten"? Why is "pre-kindergarten" even necessary? Do you think a majority of Americans will go for this?

Kucinich's heart is in the right place but a lot of his ideas are laughable in the mainstream sense. I mean, Bill Clinton was a centrist and that didnt stop him from being attacked as a wacko-leftist.

But that doesn't mean leftists can't dream. I'm just afraid you'll all have to wait another few decades.

9. Yes, he was the only one to be specific about his policies.
I just wish more people had the courage of their convictions. If we stop being so damn afraid of Bush's money and media, and actually FIGHT, the majority of America would be with us. A dream you say? Bullshit! We have the power to make our dreams a reality. DK is the real deal--a complete change from politics as usual. And we are still playing the "electibility" game, and playing right into the hands of the status quo.
