What have been the responses to your liberal bumper stickers?
I'm kind of interested what type of negative/postive responses or gestures people have gotten because of their various liberal bumper stickers.

2. Some thumbs up, some jerks flipping me off..
I don't drive, but I've put up many bumper stickers on the family car (I'm 18 and about to go to college).
They include: Gore/Lieberman 2000 ( I REFUSE to take this one down), a "Fund Education- Not War" sticker, an " = " sign (gay rights), and a UofO sticker.
Some people have given thumbs up as they pass us, or they either honk and flip us off. One guy tail gated us for 2 blocks...

4. I've never gotten any responses
I try not to put real controversial stickers on my car. Currently I have a Dean for President, DU, and a Dixie Chicks sticker.

I used to have a "Re-Elect Gore in 2004" and "There's Dirt Under Every Bu$h" sticker. Unfortunately, I got no negative or positive feedback.

5. No War with Iraq
and a goofy picture of Bush labled "Like A Rock (Only Dumber)". I have expected somebody in Fargo, N.D. to put a rock through my winshield, but have only gottten two (positive) comments. One was from the Clean Water Action canvasser, and I'm not sure that counts.

16. Like a rock-
only dumber.

TOO, TOO FUNNY! I love it. Afraid if I saw one of those, I'd be laughing too hard to drive.

Then comes the obvious question - where can I get one?

7. My car was egged a couple nights ago
I don't know if this was related to my stickers, but chances are it was. I had my car parked out on the street (normally it's in the driveway), so people driving by could easily see my stickers for Dean, Democracy Now!, Unitarian Universalism, and the one saying "Don't Blame Me, I Voted with the Majority".

Until this incident (and I'm not certain it was motivated by my stickers), I've had little response to the stickers (the two or three I've had have been positive, though).

8. I have three stickers (2 of my own design)
Edited on Tue Jul-08-03 06:47 AM by Quahog
One is "WWJB - Who would Jesus bomb?" Then I have a quotation from the bible: "'You shall not kill' - God, Exodus 20:13" And a tiny one on the window that says "Without dissent it's not America." Not a lot of reactions here in mostly liberal and very Catholic Rhode Island. I have given away the WWJB and Exodus stickers to people who have asked where I got them (I carry extras with me), but I've never seen them out on the road. That would seem like a very goofy statement unless you live in RI (you see the same people on the road all the time).

9. Well...
My "George W. Bush - Serial Killer" sticker was plastered over with a "The road to hell is paved with Democrats" sticker. I peeled it off, thinking "the road to hell is paved with Democrats who vote in favor of Bush's stupid ideas."

No telling how long I was driving around with that thing on my car.

10. Interesting/mixed
I used to get a lot of flip-offs. My car was keyed in the parking lot (I have the unfortunate privilege of working RIGHT NEXT DOOR to GOP HQs in Westchester NY) awhile ago. But the tide is turning! I'm getting lots of thumbs ups and peace signs while I'm on the road.

There is reason to hope.

:D

11. A speeding ticket
Watched a cop ignore 2 people who passed him on the right going about 80... so I figured I could do it too. Guess he didn't like the "George W. Bush for EX-President, 2004" sticker. I got a ticket. I'm going to fight it.

15. Bush Knew sticker...
My colleagues have all asked me about it--I teach at a local university--we're a mixed bunch (i.e. we're not a hot bed of liberalism--just normal folk from all walks and ideologies)--no negative responses from them.

I was at a local fast food place in the drive-thru and had an average lady honk at me to ask me where she could get one--typical soccer mom type

My partner had two cops ask him about it at a stop light--they thought is was right on --although one was clueless as to what it meant at first.

Was getting gas and had some guy start talking to me about the Republicans screwing up the country etc. Pretty gutsy of him to start that with a complete stranger--but then I pointed out my bumper sticker and he knew he was preaching to the choir.

So far no negative responses--and in South Florida that's a bit of a surprise...

17. Run off the road for an "Honor Vets, Wage Peace" sign inside the car.
Kucinich bumpersticker: about 20 requests for one. I told 'em to send $5.00 to the campaign, that's how I got mine.

19. More good than bad
I live in NC, the right-wing capital of America. I am suprised at the reactions to my bumper stickers. When people do pay attention to them, I get a friendly reaction usually. I recently added a John Edwards for President sticker and have received several beeps and waves from other drivers. I have been shocked by the majority of the reactions. Of course, I have had a few dirty looks from the local rednecks! I have yet to get the bird though, but maybe I am not paying close enough attention.

20. I Posted This Already But Someone Followed Me Into a parking lot
to ask me where I got my "Bush Lied - Thousands Died" bumper sticker.
I had it blue-tacked onto the inside rear window (I was driving my son's car at the time). He pulled me over (I was a little afraid) and said "Where did you get that bumper sticker - I want one". I took mine out of the car and gave it to him - he promptly smoothed it onto his back bumper and drove away.

It was awesome. This was a 70'ish man driving a truck in northern
Wisconsin. Make my week.

21. My wife won't let me have any bumper stickers! She's a Republican.
Anyway, you never know what people are going to do. I once had a custom-made license plate frame on the back of my old sports car. It read: "Oh yeah? Say that to my face!" Well, I guess I cut some guy off once, without meaning to, and he followed me for miles and miles trying to catch up to me. I finally pulled into a parking lot and he screamed out his window at me. I invited him to get out of his car and repeat it, and he took off.

I think I've grown past the arrogance that made me put the frame on in the first place.
