Wow...Great news!

The Skagit county Green Party Chairman just called me. The Green Party there is throwing their weight behind my campaign. I told the fella I was running as a dem...he said "All Parties should be interested in your campaign"...His group has offered to work for my election and is even now...spreading the word. This is great...perhaps I can bridge the divide between the two parties.

and do you have any opponents on Dem side. Good Luck--I think Washington will have a great democratic year in 2004 given how the state has suffered under Bush.

and yes one opponent. She has pissed off a lot of people though. She is a Democrat in a republican district. If her seat is filled by a Republican...the legislature could very well tip to the GOP side.

So far here, I have Greens working on my campaign, but nothing to this level. Congrats!

I also made contacts today with the King County Dem Chair. He is Gay! He might be an important allt in this fight. He is none to happy about the other dem running. She will vacate a State House seat which is from a Republican area. If we loose that seat we could very well go to Republican Rule here. Laura...Just say no!

You may be popular at DU; but, if you honestly want to win this race, you are going to have change gears--and change them fast. Your attacks against Murray and Cantwell aren't going to help you--and, in fact, if you even get the nomination (which you won't, being brutally honest here), they will probably get the state party to do nothing for you.

I'd really like to see you elected. But, I also hope that you'll work with the Dems, as a team, who have already gotten themselves elected and use gentle presure to get things done.

A little anecdotal factoid: When I voted yesterday a woman was guiding a friend through the procedures. When it came to putting the ballot through the optical scan Accuvote counter, she referred to it as "the shredder." "Now just put it into the shredder over there." There is real and wide distrust of these machines, and with a few facts this is a key issue for anyone running for SoS and for anyone who votes.

If you can bridge the parties, more power to you. I know that Libertarian and Republicans are even trying to bridge on many fronts now.

Looks like 2004 will be hot and heavy. I'm awaiting anxciously. Looks to be a great debate year.
