Greg Nickels is taking over the Seattle City Council
Edited on Wed Nov-05-03 12:53 PM by Cascadian
Something has been bugging me all morning.

Why is it that Heidi Wills and Judy Nicastro lost when Jim Compton gets another four years? Did I miss something here?

Okay. They all got caught with that whole "Strippergate" deal. Okay. I hope they learned their lesson but damn me. Jim Compton, Paul Allen's and Greg Nickel's best buddy on the council gets keep his job and Judy and Heidi didn't? Compton's been a lackey for big business ever since he's been on the council. He is the least trustful of the whole group. At least give credit to Nicastro for being a voice for common person. Surely Wills had her flaws but I think she would have done better in her next term.

The whole thing just stinks. I would not be surprised that Greg Nickels and Paul Allen are making plans to target Nic Licata out of office next. Am I wrong?

1. Speaking of which....
I am curious to find out who voted for whom in Compton's council seat.

It came down to a choice between a corporate lackey and a wife-abusing ex-cop. Hmmmm..... I picked J.P. Patches as a write-in candidate.

I'M A PATCHES PAL!

2. Um, well, Compton ran against a guy convicted of domestic violence
Whether or not he was a good council member, Manning's behavior certainly didn't help his cause this year. I think Compton was vulnerable if there had been a stronger opponent.

I've known Heidi Wills for almost 20 years, and she's a nice person, and I voted for her last time, but I think she was a huge disappointment and I'm not in the mood to wait around as she "learns" more. Her oversight (or lack thereof) of Gary Zarker and Seattle City Light was sad, to put it mildly.

4. it's not a done deal
I just checked the Seattle Times page and there is still a third of the city votes to count. Some of the races are still close to call.
