Roger Hedgecock - Today's Substitute Idiot
Filling in for Rush Limbaugh while he continues in detox, Hedgecock just said that the reason we have such a big homeless problem in this country is because we're addressing the problem by helping the homeless. He actually said that we now have homeless people from places like Argentina and Somalia on our streets.

What parallel universe does this moron live in?

Edited on Wed Nov-05-03 12:58 PM by Mountainman
Ex mayor of San Diego. I forget what he was convicted of. I seem to remember some thing about money laundering and Mayor Golding's husband also.

Lot's of right wing idiots are gamblers, druggies, thieves, felons etc. That's why we should listen to them because they have real first hand knowledge of what they preach against.

2. Wow, Thanks for Restoring My Faith
Just when a wingnut just might be intimidating to us, we are reminded that at the core of every wingnut there is SCOUNDREL writ large.

.... Hedgecock, the former San Diego mayor convicted in the 1980s of conspiracy and 12 counts of perjury over failure to report more than $350,000 in campaign contributions ....

Forced to resign as mayor in December 1985 after his felony conviction, Hedgecock found radio. (The California Supreme Court reversed the perjury convictions in 1990, and Hedgecock eventually reached a plea agreement with the District Attorney's Office in the conspiracy case. He reportedly paid a fine, and the conviction was reduced to a misdemeanor and dismissed.)
Still maintaining his innocence and calling the matter "complete BS,"

1985: San Diego Mayor Roger Hedgecock resigned after he was convicted of one count of conspiracy and 12 counts of perjury. The charges stemmed from allegations that he financed his 1983 mayoral campaign with more than $300,000 funneled through a political consulting firm. Hedgecock was sentenced to a year in county custody, a fine and three years' probation. After the state Supreme Court reversed the perjury convictions, Hedgecock made a deal with prosecutors. He pleaded guilty to the felony conspiracy count that was reduced to a misdemeanor and then dismissed in 1991. He served no time in jail.
