5. Is he engaging in person?
How many people were there? What were people that you were talking to saying about the vote starting tomorrow about campaign finances?

7. my guesstimate is about 300-400
there were about 30 members of IUPAT (the union that endorsed Dean) wearing their black & gold.

I went over to them afterwards to thanks them for their support, and for showing up.

they told me how impressed they are by Dean's grassroots army… said they've never seen anything like it in all the campaigns they've been involved with.

10. this was my 4th time seeing him speak
I didn't get to interact with him face to face this time, but I have twice in the past (at events I volunteered at) and he's quite engaging.

11. I saw and shook hands with
Dean in Seattle, and let me tell you, HE IS ENGAGING! he comes across so much better than he does in these debates - he really brings the crowd alive and energized - he is something to watch work a crowd.

9. How did the apology go over?
They showed a small clip on CNN, but how was the audience about it?

13. the whole speech went over well
he was introduced by his roomate from freshman year @ Yale.

prior to him, a working-mother from New Hampshire (who flew in for the day) spoke for about 10 minutes about what NH politics are all about, and she told a great story about the effectiveness of the letter writing campaign.

17. CNN showed a clip from the speech
Dean apologized if his flag comment caused pain or agravation, and that his remark was clumsy, but that this country needs to talk about race... (See the thread in GD)

18. he opened by apologizing to anyone he may have offended…
through his "clumsy start" to a debate that he considers vital to the party, and the nation at large… but he said he won't back down from talking about the tough issueslike racism… because they don't just go away if you don't talk about them… they need to be confronted head on… even if it's uncomfortable… which it is
