Is it better to run as an "underdog" or the favorite ?
But an underdog needs to know when he's the underdog and act the part. This is advantageous because it puts responsibility for failures in domestic and foreign policy on the favorite. Democrats have failed because they have pretended to be equal partners to George W Bush and the Repubs in both areas and, in doing so, accept partial responsibility. But they are only pretending because they are not equals.

Democrats should start acting the part of the underdog because America loves an "underdog". If Bush is ahead in the polls by 10 points, well, that's just great! Because it doesn't matter a whit if he's ahead at this time. Just sit back and enjoy your role. It's much easier to cope with and it's much easier to win with. Let them govern. We are just trying to protect our turf. We don't have the power to do anything else.

1. I'm not sure if traditional theories apply in this bazarro world ...
... I fear it's the money and the media ... and, Diebold voting machines ... everything else is going through the motions ...


I used the word "theories" for the lack of being able to come up with a better term on the cuff
