3. Yes!
I don't know what you mean by Republicans. If you mean "Are there any subjects Ann Coulter and Michael Moore can agree on?" the answer is obvious.

If the question is "Is there anything the average Republican politician and the average Democratic Politician can agree on?" well, there might be political expediency that forces them together at times, but for the most part they get more out of fighting.

If you mean, "Is there anything the average citizen who votes Republican and the average citizen who votes Democratic can agree on?" Well there are a lot of areas of agreement. We all want to see a strong safe properous America. An America that works for all its citizens.

6. The latter
"If you mean, "Is there anything the average citizen who votes Republican and the average citizen who votes Democratic can agree on?" Well there are a lot of areas of agreement. We all want to see a strong safe properous America. An America that works for all its citizens."

We also all want to win the Powerball, fly the Space Shuttle, and run naked through Yankee Stadium on a game night (well...maybe that's just me).

I am talking about more specific subjects on how to achieve that state of nirvana though.

5. Oreos?
nah, that is divisive too.
Some like to pull them apart.
Some like to eat them whole.
Some are for with milk.
Some are against.

Nope. Nothing.

7. Seriously, media consolidation
This is an issue that had allies like the NRA and Common Cause and NARAL all coming together against it. It also united politicians like Ted Kennedy and Trent Lott.

11. Without question.
An email I just received:

===

Dear Mr. Pitt,

I am writing to you today for one reason and one reason only - to express to you my deepest gratitude, respect, and admiration for your work that I have the honor to read on Truthout.org.

I am a 50-year-old, unemployed man living in Seattle, Washington. I am what is called a "white collar professional", having been in technology for over 25 years, my latest position being as a Chief Information Officer. I have been out of work for over 14 months now, with no prospects of employment on the immediate horizon. My wife's and my ability to stay in our home is seriously threatened. We are living now off of our retirement and pension money, having to pay the federal government 10 cents on every dollar we need to use.

Ironic, isn't it? George Bush implements self-defeating economic policies, designed to benefit only the top 1% richest of our country's citizens, then demands 10% of every dollar I need to take out of savings because I am unemployed as a result of those policies?? It can make one angry, if dwelt upon for too long.

My period of unemployment has actually been a blessing in so many ways, not the least of which is that it has given me time to wake up, to start following what is happening in my country more closely. Your writings have been at the heart of that awakening. You have given me a voice, as you have to millions of others like me. I
have read, and watched, in horror as graft has become the mainstream value in our government. I have watched in horror as the majority of my fellow citizens have sleep-walked through the rise of fascism in this country.

(It's ironic, fascism is a word that I used to tremble at, just at the mere sound of it. You inspired me to pick up a dictionary, and I read the definition of fascism: "A governmental system marked by a centralized dictatorship, stringent socioeconomic controls, and often
belligerent nationalism." We may not be a dictatorship quite yet in the literal sense, but the rest of it was dead-on to the Bush Administration.)

Your writings have made me cry, made me angry, but most of all have put me into action. I have selected a Democratic candidate for which I am becoming active. Mind you, I was raised in a Republican household and trained to believe all Democrats were robber barons. I have never voted Democratic (I have actually voted Libertarian for over 20 years) and will never actually join the Democratic Party.
But I know now that George Bush MUST go in 2004, and I must put my energy, personally, into ensuring his defeat.

Yours very truly,

*******************************

19. So we agree that Bush must go?
Although there is a small ABB majority (according to the polls), the vote is still pretty much split through the middle.

That's an interesting letter though. It goes to prove that (many/most)people do not give a rodent's derriere about the faith of others until they find themselves in a position they thought they'd never be in.
Ironic, but maybe that is what it takes.

If that is the case, 4 more years of Bush will bring unheard numbers of converts to the Democratic side. Question is...is that worth it?

18. You're supposed to have a knee-jerk negative reaction to anything proposed
by the opposition. Whether it makes sense or not.
