WASHINGTON -- Anti-abortion lawmakers are preparing to renew their fight to halt sales of the abortion pill RU-486 after a California woman's death was linked to the pill.

Rep. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., said at least four dozen lawmakers are backing a bill he planned to introduce Thursday that would suspend the Food and Drug Administration's approval of the use of RU-486, also called mifepristone, pending an audit by the congressional General Accounting Office.

"This is all about the health of women and getting women the right information about a drug that is clearly dangerous," DeMint said.

1. haven't there been a few deaths linked to Viagra??
I wonder if they'll stampede to outlaw Viagra now? Clearly it's dangerous, and shouldn't they be just as concerned about the health of men and getting men the right information about a drug that is clearly dangerous?

F***ing hypocrites!

14. Viagra is most dangerous...
if you're on nitrates.

Okay, this means that old men who take nitroglycerin for their hearts can't get it up with Viagra, but if you need nitroglycerin for your heart you probably shouldn't be having sex in the first place.

Its real effect: gay guys who like using poppers can't use Viagra because poppers and Viagra taken together can kill. Republicans like this for obvious reasons.

5. Maternity Mortality Rate in US
7.5 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births between 1982-1996.

Their goal is 3.3 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births.

Do a google -- there's a lot there.

It seems giving birth is the most dangerous for women.

6. BS detector going off again
Notice they don't describe them as 'pro women lawmakers'. No, Anti-abortion is thier creed, and thier reason to ban RU-486. A woman's death linked to it is a excuse, nothing more. How many women died of alcohol poisoning? How many because of misprescriptions? How many from domestic violence? Not one mention of any of these; but a drug that causes abortions...

7. What shit, how many have died from tabacco??
Are they suspending the sale of tabacco? hell no, they won't even regulate it. But one poor women dies, maybe from this drug maybe not, and they use it as an excuse to try to get want they have wanted from the beginning. They really couldn't care less that the women died, it is just a convenient excuse to these bastards. Fucking repukes.

8. "Rep. DeMint is a hypocrite."
Give me a friggin break!

"This is all about the health of women and getting women the right information about a drug that is clearly dangerous," DeMint said.

They don't give a rats a** about women's health. Bush just signed a bill that bans partial birth abortions in all cases even when the mother's health or life is at stake. The hypocrisy stinks so friggin bad. Once again the so-called religious right is using its influence to get its way.

10. The ultimate end for these fanatics is an end to all birth control
That is the unwritten and unspoken ultimate aim for the anti-abortion assholes.

Today was a step in that direction. Tomorrow they'll be running.

12. "This is all about the health of women"
well if he says it, it must be true.

He's a republican, that means he's a good man, probably a christian, and he wouldn't lie.
