Is the right or left more powerful on the 'Net?
Who is all-powerful on the Internet? I think that both sides are about equal on the 'net. The Blogosphere is fairly lefty-dominated, with a few exceptions, and message board swing both ways. What's your opinion?

1. It's hard to say.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of operatives out there - corporate gatekeepers posing as liberals. One of my favorite examples is Geov Parrish, a left-wing Seattle columnist who now has a national audience. Most of the stuff he writes is right on target - but he's absolutely corrupt.

Virtually every education or education reform website I've seen, no matter how liberal, was either obviously corrupt, or it was linked to other corrupt websites. I also get the feeling that many big environmental organizations have sold out.

I think one of the best ways to figure out a website is to see what you can learn about its webmaster. If s/he has a good track record, the website may be OK. But if it's hard to find any information about them at all, beware.

5. TechnoLiberals
I had the same perception that technical people - or anyone who is education - is most likely liberal. However, I've had some interesting experiences trying to network with them.

I've been interest in Linux for quite some time. I'm not using it on my computer yet, but I've been moving my websites to Linux servers. What impresses me most is Linux's political potential - it's awesome! Amazingly, the Linux community is practically mute on that subject.

I recently ran for public office and made "freedomware" a campaign issue. I contacted many Linux groups across the nation, and no one expressed the slightest interest. I've also encouraged web designers and other high-tech types to promote Linux and the Mozilla browser on their websites. Most people think my idea's a big joke.

In fact, I've discovered that many technies - even Linux fans - are actually somewhat defensive if you criticize Bill Gates. I suspect many of these people are actually Microsoft operatives. Still, you'd think there'd be SOME high-tech activists out there.

At any rate, I've discovered very little credible activism emanating from computer geekdom. I suspect the greatest activists are the foreign nationals who are working on new computer operating systems to challenge Microsoft - like Red Flag Linux.

13. Bill Gates a Democrat?
You wrote, "Bill gates is a democrat, and so is his father, he has fought for progressive taxation and to keep estate taxes."

Most elected officials in Seattle and most state officials in Olympia are Democrats, and it's hard to think of just one who isn't a pig.

The Gates' battles regarding taxation and the estate tax don't impress me. Bill Gates' vast fortune gives him tremendous latitude in both pulling off public relations stunts and bending the laws of economics. Gates is also a heavyweight in education reform - and he's done more than perhaps any other individual to ruin the very schools he gives money to.

3. The left, because they are more creative and techno-minded
I think a lot of conservatives are actually afraid of the Internet. And remember that bush didn't really start a "friendly" web site until he saw the results that Dean was creating. Monkey see, monkey do.

6. Another thought...
Also, don't forget to take the rulers of cyberspace into account.

Many people seem to believe that Yahoo is essentially right-wing, or at least "corporate." My experiences suggest that it is corrupt.

Google seems to have a good reputation, but it's sheer power makes it a bit intimidating. The recent news that Microsoft is seeking to acquire Google is truly frightening. I'm amazed how little discussion it has generated on activist websites.

There's no question that Bill Gates and Uncle Spam are plotting to take over the Internet - and how much they've accomplished to date is something only they know.

9. I didn't look but know Alexa is self selecting sample, no good
I think the rabid-right is more organized on the net due

to left complacency during the 'centrist'(not-so-rabid-right) Clinton years

17. Alexa is easily "freeped"
http://simplythebest.net/info/spyware/alexa_spyware.html

In addition, those who choose to run IE with spyware attached, even spyware of the less odious sort like Alexa, are probably the most gullible sector of the population. If you want stats on where the most easily fooled folks visit, Alexa is a probably a good guide if the numbers have not been hoaxed.
